Can confirm, the damn knob is not giving in. Looks like if I use brute force, the thing will brake and I'll hit my face with the knob lol.

Any other method to remove it "properly" ?
I'm half way through machining up a special tool to remove the knob which I know doesn't help you much but I can give you some insights after buying a new knob and boot assembly and looking at it. The slot at the front of the plastic knob section isn't any use to actually release the plastic locking collar as it's actually a separate piece for the area around the locking collar and only there to locate the single stitched front boot seam. My advice is to pull the boot up as far as you can with it inside out and apply some heat carefully to the knob section plastic collar. You will need to take care and direct the heat gun source up inside the outer collar so it warms the inner locking collar. Then use the pulling methodology. My tool is an aluminium split clamp that clamps around the large diameter of the shifter shaft and gives a leverage point for a pair of flat blade screw drives on the knob outer collar to pop it off.

Hello to the USA members

Question for you, is there any word out there of Raceseng going out of business? I ordered a Contour shift knob on 5th September (AUD281 including shipping), it was showing as IN STOCK when I ordered, email back from Raceseng saying item order confirmed, but no shipping info, will ship when item becomes available. No response to my emails to the address on the order a few days later, asking what is the status. I just sent an email today to their support address, got this bizarre response:

Hey!

As a company we see major changes coming to the automotive aftermarket that will substantially affect Raceseng's business model. We started a new business and are focusing our efforts on the new venture while sustaining Raceseng's product line through this year.

We have limited resources in customer service and can only respond to important messages. If you do not receive a response from us, we're sorry but it means one of the following:

• We don't offer a fitment for your vehicle
• We no longer offer that product color or style
• Your product issue is outside of our 1 year warranty period

From all of us at Raceseng, this is a bittersweet moment but we must evolve to sustain our livelihoods.

Thank you for all of your support over the years!

FYI I had ordered the NTA adapter and collar back on 1st September which I got yesterday (btw, made in China, I thought Raceseng was made in USA, so disappointed).

Thanks

SlowFreddy

Dang I hadn't heard anything and that email response is surprising. Sounds like they are definitely leaving Raceseng behind and focusing all their energy on their new venture. If you don't get your contour, I have a red translucent Slammer that is still for sale and we can work out something. You would just have to get a NTA from a 3rd party source, which should be easily available from many online stores.

Thanks for the offer, I already have a Slammer from my 86 which I bought many years ago from Raceseng and the NTA adapter came last week, so I'm good to go. What pissed me off is there non response and then the bullshit email, yet the website is still selling product like its business as usual. My email was also serving as a warning to anyone else thinking of buying from that mob. I've put in a claim via the credit card company, hopefully I get my money back.

Yeah it’s sad to hear because I am a huge fan of Raceseng products and have their shift knob, tow hooks, titanium stud conversion and titanium lugnuts :(

Hopefully this doesn’t just end up in a loss of money

Took them a bit, I pinged them after a few days within ordering a knob, they were actually prompt and responsive to my emails. Finally got my blue slammer in the mail today. Man this thing is pretty. Cant wait to install it ?

Cheers mate. Just glad to have that godawful GR one off. Considering how light and cheap it feels I was surprised to see it actually had some weight to it.
yeah I had the same reaction when I removed mine. I believe the stock one was right around 200 grams if I remember correctly...been awhile.
