Car was totaled back in October. I removed it because it's going on my new car the minute I take delivery!!Any reason why you removed it or am I misreading?

It's great, I love mine! Been on about 10 months and wouldn't think about swapping to anything else.So.. I have a Raceng Contour ready to install. ? Any feedback on how this knob has fared? @94boosted @Jmanlevan
That's shit. Sorry to hear that but glad you're back on the horse soon.Car was totaled back in October. I removed it because it's going on my new car the minute I take delivery!!![]()
Cool. I might add mine on the weekend if I get time - still think it might be too heavy but we'll see how she goes. It's great, I love mine! Been on about 10 months and wouldn't think about swapping to anything else.
You wont think its too heavy. Its literally perfect. You'll love it.That's shit. Sorry to hear that but glad you're back on the horse soon.

I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't require a crazy amount of force to pull it off the shifter. I was actually amazed how easy it was.I have a Raceng shift knob to install as well but was wondering if there was a better way to remove the stock knob assy. I'm not a huge fan of just yanking stuff off with brute force. To anyone thats done the job would it be feasible to cut the leather boot as shown in the excellent How to post with the knob still on the shifter post and work the boot off the stock knob so you could get a large flat bladed driver or some such tool in and spread the std plastic knob assy so it slips off the shifter rod? Wondering if the std shifter boot is glued to the std shift knob plastic body sleeve or if once cut it is able to be easily worked down to expose the shifter knob plastic sleeve?
Phil
I'm still wondering if it's not a better solution to cut the boot close to the shift knob base before you remove it and work the boot down so you can access the bottom of the shift knobs plastic sleeve that incorporates the retention function onto the stick shaft. The influence of the shrink fit around the knob plastic section would also be out of the equation and it would allow you to access the plastic knob retainer with a screw driver as someone else did to help spread the knob retainer section and release it from the shaft. After removal you can then trim the boot to whatever length you like. I'm still not a fan of yanking on the knob to remove it.Got all the stuff to take mine off. And its a real pain to pull off the OEM knob. Pulled as hard as I can in every position I could get myself into and no luck. I'll try again tomorrow.
Any advice to get that thing off?
Did you put it into 2nd gear? I used two hands interlocked while pulling up and I was practically standing up inside the car using as much leverage as possible. You’ve definitely got to yank the fuck out of it but it will come off.Got all the stuff to take mine off. And its a real pain to pull off the OEM knob. Sounds a bit "uncontrolled"Did you put it into 2nd gear? I used two hands interlocked while pulling up and I was practically standing up inside the car using as much leverage as possible. You’ve definitely got to yank the fuck out of it but it will come off.
Well considering im one of the first people to do this, please provide a method that would be more "controlled" and would meet your expectations. Don't know why you always seem to be such a condescending prick to people on here. You don't add any value to threads with replies like this ?Sounds a bit "uncontrolled"

I've already outlined another possible technique if you could be arsed to read a few posts back and lets face it reefing up on the shifter while half standing in the car doesn't exactly sound appealing does it. The value I add is years of experience in NOT just "yanking the fuck out of it" as you put it but suggesting and finding better engineering solutions than "use a bigger hammer".Well considering im one of the first people to do this, please provide a method that would be more "controlled" and would meet your expectations. I know you complimented my write up and I appreciate it and I know you’re looking for another solution. But that doesn’t change the fact that you do come off condescending on here on a lot of threads I’ve read where you respond. Yes Phil, we get it, you’re an engineer. You’re super smart and have years and years of experience. We know. You don’t have to tell everyone how big your brain is all the time.I've already outlined another possible technique if you could be arsed to read a few posts back and lets face it reefing up on the shifter while half standing in the car doesn't exactly sound appealing does it. Also if you read post #3 I complimented you on your excellent write up. I just don't like the idea of "yanking the fuck out of it" and am looking for a better way.
