Soooooo State Side Unlock? Anyone?

I'm treading lightly here.

It's been about a year or so since I've asked about this but, as the title says, I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out how to unlock the ECU's here.

The cost to ship things internationally increased and there's no longer a minimum threshold where X amount is duty free.

Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for an American to have to default to the Europeans for an unlock.. and continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

A good amount of us don't care. We do it, then we enjoy it. Being on the East Coast now, I actually usually get packages from the EU faster than packages from the same continent.

Some of the most talented people on my teams over the years, and currently, are based in the EU. The irony that the United States was colonized and founded by people from Europe does not escape me. Unfortunately, history is history now in the United States.

Yeah. While the post was pretty tame, I just think it's funny how some Americans think its an aberration and complete injustice that the US doesn't have something.

I don't think the Femto unlock will ever migrate to the US.. or anywhere else for that matter.

I don't think the Femto unlock will ever migrate to the US.. or anywhere else for that matter.

At least the supra was released in the US. My last car never made it to US shores, so major mods had to be done locally and expensively or worse yet, parts from europe with a weak $AUD. There wasnt anyone in the country who could tune it properly so I had to hire a dyno at an ungodly hour and have a Brit remote log into my laptop.

The US market for car modifications is epic.

Speed of delivery and turnaround for goods is one thing. But cost is another. Has there been any updates to pricing from FEMTO in the past year?

It’s worth the price and time to send it out. Unplugging my JB4 felt so damn good. What a difference in drivability from a custom map JB4 to the OTS MHD maps.

I have been in contact with a local shop. I met the guy through a mutual at my sister's wedding. It was nice. I can't believe my cousin is also going to be my brother-in-law! Talk about crazy inceptions and multiverse of madness, Dr Stephen Strange!

Anyway, there I was chilling - trying to get with this hottie. And she said she was only to hook up with the dude who was driving the Supra in the parking lot.

Well, well, well that's me! She told me how her husband owns this performance shop and he just figured out how to unlock them. He plans on offering the service soon. Probably like two weeks out. DM me and I'll hook you up with the dude.

If any other shops figure it out and actually do as good a job as FEMTO (and not some jank crap that can't run BM3/MHD like a certain other unlocker claims to have...) you'll probably save $100 on the service and $100-200 on shipping. Is a couple hundred bucks on a service that costs a grand or more in total really worth waiting and waiting and waiting for years?

Who did your custom map and what is drivability difference exactly

I don't think he meant a custom map: OTS maps are Off The Shelf and generic to an engine and purchased from MHD. I run MHD's Stage 2 OTS map (98RON) and find the car to be perfectly smooth. Apart from the significant power bump - and having to feather the skinny pedal a bit due to traction - the car may as well be stock.

EDIT: D'oh. Just re-read your post in context. You probably meant the JB4 map. Ignore me, lol.
