You track a bunch- cut the sensor heads off and wire together and just tiny zip tie out of the way.

Trust me nothing is worse than a brake sensor going off and going into limp the first session of the day... ask me how i know ;)

I am sure you are good about checking pads yourself. The more idiot stuff I can unwire i do...
Will the red brake light on dash go off doing this?

no lights or limp. by snipping and wiring together you are keeping to voltage loop intact that the ecu is looking for

Agreed. When I replaced pads, I made sure the existing pad sensors were good, then zip-tied them away

What can happen if you don’t wire them together (or zip tie them)

Driving to the track Friday. The brake pad sensor spontaneously activated, with new front and rear pads put on the day before. Anyways, we listened to @Rocksandblues suggestion, snipped & wired them together, then zip tied em out of the way, viola… problem solved!

If you want to fix the error and not visually inspect the thickness of your own pads, you can buy new sensors or do the @nibble reset. We couldn’t get the last step of nibble’s process to take. But that’s worth a try too if you want to keep your brake pad sensors.

To me this is one less thing to worry about - wiring them together worked beautifully

Updated post: still one of my favorite mods done to the car!

Anyone have experience at the track with FCP euro pads? I'm running hawk dtc now, but I like the idea of not paying for pad replacements :)

They make track pads for the Supra? Wow, curious how that goes as well.

That's an interesting technic in case spare sensor is not available. This is a set of brake pads from another car during trackday. because front side had some pad left, driver thought it was OK but on rear side had absolutely no pad material at all. brake wear sensor would've picked it up if he had one but this car didn't have such...

It’s fantastic not having them for what we do.

If the driver didn’t notice the difference, we’ve got more than sensor issues going on. I don’t need them, want them, or waste my money on them (Sam I am - Dr. Seuss fan). Like TPMs. Brake sensors are good for daily drivers that only put gas in their cars and drive. When you enter the track world, if you’re not checking your tires, pads, rotors, etc., then that poor student needs to go back to HPDE 101 ?

Or.... just go over the car before every track day like people should be doing.

What do you mean? I’m replacing mine this Friday.
If you haven't had a brake wear warning come on then they are still good. Literally have to take them out of pad when you swap so just zip tie them out of the way.

So just so I understand, as long as no light and the sensor is good, you can just zip tie them out the way? You don't have to do the splice thing?
Correct. I would protect the sensor head though as I had one taken out by some stray object even when zip tie'd out of the way.
