The Supra being auto makes me consider the RCF more. If I want the comfort of an automatic, might as well get the comfortable car.

I have always wanted a RCF but it's a little out of my budget so I was probably going to settle for a RC350. With the Supra on the horizon, it should probably come in at almost the same price range as an RC350 - high 40's to mid 50's. I'm not sure which way I'd go if it really came down to a RC350 vs Supra.

Have you considered the new Acura TL? It's AWD like 290HP and manual. Its a better Subaru STI than a Subaru STI. The interior is beautiful too.

So... should we expect the pricing to be closer to the BMW M240i Coupe or the BMW M2?

Will it be more than the Lexus RCF, close to the RCF or closer to the RC 350 F Sport RWD?

I really hope it's closer to the m240i coupe. Lots of people are expecting a market contraction in the next few years and I would honestly not feel comfortable dropping 60kish on a brand new car in the middle of a recession.

I hear a lot about how the old supra adjusted for inflation would be close to 70k and therefore this new model should be there as well. I understand that but don't feel that it fits in the current context. There are too many options now for such a high price tag to be competitive.

Well, here in South Africa, the M240i goes for approx ZAR 715 000 (USD 61 300) based on current exchange rate.

The RC 350 F Sport is ZAR 845 000. BMW M2 is just under ZAR 1 million...

I stand to be corrected - latest pricing is ZAR 802 700 (USD 69 000)...

I feel as though there are going to be options and packages ala lexus.

A two seater four banger costing 34k with little to no interior involved having 255 hp with manual.

A 47k supra with the B58 engine at 335 HP for base, and an extra seven to eight thousand with luxury interior/brakes/springs etc...

Considering the 86 here is about 550,000 rands. I won't be surprised if the Supra is closer to the M2 in price. That's if SA even gets it. Toyota don't give a hoot what people want here. They're around to sell appliances

Where about in SA are you from?

True re the GT86. I can't see how they can justify such a huge hike in the price.

The 1% increase in VAT just announced today is only going to make matters worse...

Joburg bro. Ya true. In every way we're screwed. But nonetheless I hope it comes here. Maybe the 4cyl replaces the 86 here and they have the 6cyl about 200k more

Great thread/comments....Living in Canada it is hard to compare prices as most models come fully optioned unlike the US. Most people cross shop as it is a big decision and everyone wants to make the right choice. I am looking to update my 2009 Lexus IS-F and have looked at pretty much all brands including Lexus and agree with the general comments that they are more on the luxury side and aimed at an older buyer. The RCF and GSF are on my radar but not really the right fit for me. I am seriously considering the Supra and it makes sence where it will be priced under the Lexus models with what it is/offers and compared to the competition. If it is what I think it will be at the price point, I will buy one. If not I would buy something else. The great news is guys we have alot of awesome choices, and cars today I feel are a better deal than they use to be, for approx. the same price you get a safer more reliable and better built car...

I'm going to go with the camp that says whatever it is, it's going to give some people sticker shock. Kinda like Mini gives me sticker shock, because BMW made it or was involved.

To other it might not, I mean if an RCF is in your list too, you probably wont be sticker shock. We're probably alittle while away from a pricing announcement. So i'm gonna stick to my vague opinions.
