You say that...imagine what it would be like if that huge screen goes in the new M2...then you'd be wishing it was just the vanos.
I have a warranty and will extend it once the final paperwork is signed next week. Any modern screen is absurd for price. Any make or model. Nature of new cars and their 'affordability' for most people. A spark plug failed in my 2012 GTi here in Germany. 6 months prior to warranty expiration. What would be 9000-Euro's in cost. Not worried about a screen overall. The motor and gearbox are the killers in cost.

We talking about "out of warranty" here.

Yes and Im not worried about a screen out of warranty. A motor and or gearbox are the real issues.
So what you are saying is that you trust the current generation of BMW motors more than what was offered 20 years ago?

This one and the lack of HUD information definitely annoy me. The rest I don't really care about (not that I'm saying others don't). But these are so basic and feel more like a "fuck you" than anything - from BMW to us Toyota buyers. Oh well.
Don't get me wrong - The MKV Supra is a great car overall - but there is no way we can claim that the interior is well thought out or well designed.. And luxury is a stretch! It's only possibly a luxury sports car compared to Toyota's other lame offerings.. compared to actual luxury cars.. well, no.

And just for the record, the automatic has the exact same idiotic design language.. along with a missing six speed. ?
Need to control for class and price, IMO. Go ahead and compare it to a $55-60k sports car from another manufacturer. I see where you’re coming from, but when controlling for the factors above, your alternatives are basically a mustang or half a cayman.

I think the Supra is a very nice place to be compared to the alternatives, though, I appreciate that for a little more, the M2 offers a lot of what one would get at the m3/m4 price point from an interior/ergonomics standpoint.
Here's the thing about the Supra's basic, imperfect, and spartan interior...it's going to age extremely well. I love the lack of dumb tech features, buttons everywhere and extra screens. It's so simple and clean looking, and echoes the pure reason for this car to exist: TO FUCKING DRIVE!! The actual driving position (seat & wheel adjustability), seat comfort, pedal arrangement, and (in the MT) shifter placement is almost perfection for spirited driving. This is a car that knows what it is meant to be and do. All my other complaints practically disappear when I'm wringing the car out, and that's what matters most IMO.

PS: The M2 becomes even more ugly when the MKV is parked next to it! ?

I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am to say I can control everything in this car without touching a single fucking screen. Bought it new, had it for just over 2 years now and the screen has never been touched. Maybe some day I’ll touch it just to play “Like a Virgin.”

Romanticizing poor design isn't going to help. Not only does it lack dumb features, it also lacks smart ones: Having no dual climate control ages extremely quickly, not well.

The design isn't as much spartan as it is "we don't give a fuck about the end user."

M-Cars are not track cars by design.
Neither is the Supra.. despite what the vocal minority here want you to believe.

I guess your OCD is much worse than mine.

String a rubber band between them for fuck's sake. When one turns...the other one turns. Problem solved, that'll be $500 please.

Yeah, that's not OCD mate.. that's an honest, unbiased appraisal of just one of the Supra's many design faults.

And no offense, but your rubber band solution is idiotic. This is a $100,000AUD sports car, not a push bike.

Maybe you just have a high tolerance for poor design.

This is a non-issue for me. In my cars I set the temperature and leave it there year round. For my wife it goes up and down constantly so she'd be a bit more annoyed having to fiddle with two nobs (that's not dirty sounding at all).

Are there faults with the Supra, heck yes. Is it missing some features, yup. But I buy Supra for manual, inline 6, RWD, not for stereo quality and creature comforts. Not saying others can't feel differently of course.

It's a joke man, chill out

...while the passenger burns alive because they couldn't sync the two sides of the control head and it has HEATED but not COOLED seats in a $60k "SUMMER" sports car

This!

Living in Texas, I'd probably give up my unlocked DME for ventilated seats.

The interior is so small who cares about syncing. Its less than a foot away to change.
