The xHP stage 2 and stage 3 flash worked flawlessly on track. A buddy did it for me. Had me drive around a bit outside the track just to test it. I worked so well, I actually drove in full automatic on sport w/ nannies off. Was amazed you actually could do that with this thing. Noticeably quicker without hiccups. More importantly when you do drive around in town, in normal auto mode, she no longer bogs down.

I didn’t do any of the other features on there, just the stage 3 flash. I’ll definitely check those out in the future. Thanks again for your help @Xproplayer !!!! Gave me the confidence to pull the trigger. And Bryan for the go ahead to do the stage 3 on track ??

Depending on your mods / power levels, stage 3 might cause excess strain just a heads up. Stage 2 is so good, I run it on my otherwise stock car for all my needs. This is why I was pushing XHP so hard! Glad you enjoy

Also if you post vids of your laps send one, I'd love to see

Why do you say that and can you expand on "mod config"?
Adjusted the wording to mod / power level, suspension / wing isn't going to affect a trans tune. Also removed "Wear"

From xhp's own wording on stage 3:
Shift pressure and timing maps rescaled for high power cars
"

Build on Stage 2 files but take everything a bit further.

Even shorter shift times in Sport modes, lightning-fast reaction times, race-style auto-shifting in Sport+, even stronger blips, reconfigured Launch Control parameters, and much more!

Our Stage 3 files are the way to go for enthusiasts and racers.

My read on this is that if you're using stage 3, the trans is shifting as hard (and therefore fast) as physically possible, which would cause more strain on the transmission, though it shouldn't cause wear since the clutches wear when they are slipping, and this causes the opposite of slip.

I always took this as stage 2 for stock cars or intake / downpipe / jb4 / >400 & <550hp cars

stage 3 for your >550hp cars. I've run stage 3 on a stock car though (intake resonator delete and an awe exhaust, stock intake, stock downpipe) and it's some rough shifts, it basically cannot shift smoothly, which is probably fine if you are a track only user, but I would worry about excess strain for <40% throttle driving around town.

However, I don't see anything from XHP themselves saying stage 3 would cause excess wear on a stock car. There are some settings that would do this though

Stage 2 vs. 3 is only about user comfort. Stage 3 performs better, but some people have complained it's too much. Personal choices.

My only complaint with stage 3 is that if I am cruising at say a constant 3000rpm in 1st gear, then shift to 2nd, its very harsh. Its perfectly fine/smooth in every other way.

Yea, for street drivers, I couldn't make stage 3 viable.
I don’t have any issues with it besides what I said…. It’s only noticeable in stop and go traffic and/or cruising in the pits. Under normal street use, it doesn’t do anything odd. I might add, this is in manual mode only. Put it in normal instead of sport and leave it in drive and it’s night and day better than stock.

That’s what I really wanted in town and why I bought the thing. Normal automatic mode (before the xHP flash) would shift to 8th gear so quickly & low mph, it was insane. Sport imo should be called track, because it was way too much for in town (especially catless and an AWE track exhaust). Now with the xHP stage 2 or 3 flash, normal is perfect in town. I still get over 30 mpg on the highway. And I can hit the sport button or click down the paddle anytime I want for more grunt. Honestly, I don’t know why they don’t do this from the factory. Normal mode is just gawd awful w/out this tune.

Thank amigo! Iā€˜m stock power and change all my fluids more than I’d rather admit. But for people doing drag & gobs of extra HP, I bet it could be.

Over the weekend, I installed the XHP Stage 2 tune and have been driving the car normally to break it in. I've already put about 200 miles on it.

I adjusted the settings to have the car start in 2nd gear in both normal and sport modes, along with a couple of other tweaks I can't quite remember. So far, it's been great for cruising and stop-and-go traffic.

Emissions baby

Glad to hear stage 2 is good for you, now start geeking out and adjusting the shift points even more and playing with the other settings. I used XHP to make the car shift when it should, and to make it shift a bit harder because I'm into that

For those that also have jb4 - did you only unplug the obd for jb4 or did you unplug the db25 prior to first flash or some other way to make sure it doesnt interfere?

Other than airplane mode on the phone and making sure you got enough voltage/current (I plan on jumping to another car with it running just to be safe) was there anything else to do?

Also. Now just trying to connect using Xhp WiFi adapter and can see the network show up but 99% of the time the adapter network wont connect with app. Tried BimmerCode/link and they don’t connect either during the few times the adapter network shows connected on my phone (ios18.1.1).

Anything stupid obvious I’m missing?

Did you put the car in diagnostic mode? Hitting the start/stop engine button three times
