Maybe the 4 banger since the EU model does come with a manual in the lower spec Z4, but slim to none chance for the 3.0 according the BMW insider.
Another reason I think, is because of BMW themselves. If the 3.0 Supra was offered with a manual, that could take buyers away from the M2 manual.

Due to the limited supply chain involved even in Europe, they will manual obsessed owners pay the premium. They just dont sell that many. DCT is very popular and more effective at putting the power down. My DCT M2 was the first non manual sports machine for me in Germany - did not miss the manual at all. In manual mode the DCT was far more fun and engaging. Less delay/clumsy etc. Just a very fun egaging drive.

I agree completely. I drive my Supra in manual mode 100%. Love it.

Said it before but I'll be curious to see the sales figures for the manual Z. It's nice for the few people that want that option but it seems it's really on the way out. I just saw on motor1.com another car company said they are done with manuals as well. It seems the "want" is from a small minority but these companies only care about the numbers, phasing automatics out makes more business sense.

On another note, I can't wait to see the Z on the road. My buddy cracked me up, I sent him a photo and he said "boring, you could have told me it was a new Nissan Maxima Coupe and I wouldn't have thought twice". I think it looks slick (from the side and back only) but I get what he was saying.

For the 10th time It's about a 50/50 break down. Nissan knows their audience and base. So if they didn't offer one they could lose a significant number of potential buyers.

Yup! If anyone has time you guys should skimm bimmerpost regarding the J29 and Tada-san. For those that don't, here is the nutshell. And don't get mad at me guys. Not my words, just a brief summary from insider people over on bimmerpost.

1. The car is a Toyota in name and sheet metal design only. All major components are from BMW.
2. All this Tada-san said this and that is just marketing BS. He's just basically the face of the project for the Toyota side.
3. BMW pretty much dictates what the Supra gets and doesn't get.
4. Toyota didn't really contribute much to the project other than the funds.
5. Toyota and Tada-san's involvement has greatly been exaggerated. After breaking down the B58 in Japan they pretty much just sent BMW a wish list and list of spec.
6. Kind of going back to #3. If it isn't offered on the Z4 you probably won't see it on the Supra. Cough cough manual on the 3.0

Don't get your #'s from video games.
1. They've already released their hp figure at 400, not 450, and that'll likely be 400 crank not whp.
2. 3252lbs hahahahahahaha, the 370Z weighs about 3440 or so, the VR30, turbos, coolers, piping added weight, not removed it... notice how the weight wasn't one of the numbers they disclosed? That's because it's a # that isn't flattering.

If that thing did have that power and weight, it would be a lot better than their '15% faster to 60' than the 370Z they've claimed.

3,4XX is mainly the top trim and the NISMO. If it is 3,252lbs that is most likely the dry weight which really doesn't mean jack squat.

Here is the full picture on both cars.

Per Toyota
21 Supra 2.0 = 3,181 lbs
21 Supra 3.0 = 3,400 lbs

Per Nissan
MT 370Z = 3,333 lbs
AT 370Z = 3,362 lbs
MT Sport 370Z = 3,386 lbs
AT Sport Touring 370Z = 3,439 lbs
MT 50th Anniversary 370Z = 3,386
AT 50th Anniversary 370Z = 3,413
MT NISMO 370Z = 3,457
AT NISMO 370Z = 3,486

There has been a lot of talk about the newly released Nissan Z, and more specifically how it stacks up to the Toyota Supra. I know there are some who are selling their Supra to get a Z, am I in that camp?
