Just got an update on the car from Toyota USA source:

Sub 3000lb curb weight confirmed for production car, carbon roof is standard, and worldwide release is in April 2019.

Covered these forever ago, but nice to see the information is still accurate (though not shocking this late in development). Also, looks like production may indeed begin in the November/December 2018 window as originally reported.
Nice!!! Thats what I heard too when I was at the dealership looking at the Tacoma. The salesguy told me he was informed during training about the Supra.

I Like this! Sub 3000 with close to 400HP that should be easily tunable.... Sounds pretty good to me.

Did he say that on this forum? I dont recall ever seeing that...seems wrong based on; rumours the production has been seen by some, production is to start in 2018, and reveal of some nature to come after the reveal of the Z4 this summer...
Guess not now! I had heard Fall previously, but looks like April.

400+ should be the high output version (more money too), but yeah should be an awesome car either way

I think a long time ago I had said Fall 2019, but my estimate was updated to late spring/early summer.

Now my question would you opt for the higher output car if you had intentions of modifying the engine later on or stick with the lower output

To me it would depend what other features come on the high power model. I have a feeling I will be looking at the top tier model when it comes purchase time.

turns out car does not have a B58 or S58 and is instead a totally new design, but I cannot give details aside from it being an I6 sourced from BMW.

I thought it was gonna end up being new architecture, but I thought it would be derived from an existing design; apparently it is not.

Still good on the 45k+ price tag? Or we have a non turbo option dipping to 38k?

Cause DAMN that's awesome if that's the case.

couldn't get that out of them, but apparently there will only be a single model on launch, so I think it may be $55k only for now. entry level model is more or less aimed at Europe if its produced and see below.

the 4cyl thing is still being developed surprisingly (Toyota isnt really involved I guess), there is no NA I6, and BMW has no idea which motor they want to offer or if multiple.

A solid 55k huh?

Welp, time to save up. But if there's only one model, there's no way a 400HP model is kicking in a 55k car.

If so, Toyota really out here chopping head soff the competition

One last thing,

Have you driven the recent model? Or know what people have said of the final product?

you dont' have to write a para, jsut use a one word response. If possible, avoid amazing, or inredible, try something that adds that extra spice.
