I read a post elsewhere of a guy changing the the rear diff oil on his car after around 3500 miles.
He stated “I figured it’s a good idea to get all break in junk out of the oil.” Which he changed the oil and the oil was black. (He included pictures)

He mentioned using redline gear oil and Mobil LS.
Have any of you guys used this? Which gear oil do you guys recommend?

thanks!

I would wait until after 50,000-60,000 miles to change it and use the recommended BMW differential oil.
3,500 seems a bit too early to change the oil.

I used Motul 90PA in the rear diff on my built STi, it was lovely. I haven't looked into what to use on the Supra yet though.

I changed my differential oil at 3400 miles. While drawing out the factory oil it looked horrible, after I looked at it closer it just appears to be a dark blue color naturally, so coming out it looks almost black. I used Red Line as it’s my go to for all my performance car needs.

Is there a specific Redline you guys are using?

Does anyone know what the part number is for the OEM gear oil? Or if it needs an additive for the limited slip differential?

I will be doing this change as part of my winter maintenance.

RedLine’s website is pretty good about looking up their recommended fluids for our cars, that’s what I did,

Whats the recommended viscosity for rear diff. 75w80 or 75w90 and what brand are you using. I only have 3800 miles on my 21 Supra and thinking if I should change it out before or after track day.

Reviving a post from the dead but am curious what size the fill bolt is for the rear diff. Can't seem to find that info and looking to replace the fluid. Thanks!
