I’ll be curious what they mean by “Tailor made manual” I’m praying they won’t build the trans and have it end up becoming the weak point vs how much the b58 can handle.
Probably bespoke gearing.

This is the thing. As auto’s go the ZF gets a good rep. I hope the manual doesn’t let the car down. BMW are not renowned for the best of gear shifts.

It’s difficult to know what to do in my case with mine on order for an august delivery. I’ve always stuck with manuals and the supra was going to be my experiment for moving to an auto to see if I liked them or not. Hope it’s not a decision I’ll regret taking delivery of an auto still

I'm hoping at the very least that means they made their own shifter instead of using BMW's. BMW transmissions aren't bad with some shifter upgrades and the clutch delay valve removed.

Here’s to hoping it isn’t going to be 75-80k after markups ?

ABOUT TIME! Been almost three years since I drove a Supra and crossed it off my list because of the lack of manual transmission. Finally something to get excited about. I just hope we don't have to play games to get one.

BMW has put out some mediocre manual transmissions in the past, with vague shifters and/or mushy clutch feel, but the unit in my 2020 M2 Comp is quite good. If the Supra unit is as good or better, we'll be in great shape.

I will say this, the manual Supra will occupy a good spot in the market, combining decent tech with some analog feel and the manual driving experience. That market niche has been dwindling over the years and will surely be going away soon. I have been clinging to my M2 Comp as perhaps one of the last few generations of the breed, so it's nice to see we'll have more choices.

Putting my money where my mouth is. I've got a homeboy hookup I'm cashing in so I'm already "on the list". Still waiting on the what the SE model entails but man trans is coming either way. I'm still picking a new Z but I don't (yet) have an inside track for an MSRP deal and I'm not paying any markups so will happily wait on that.

I also don’t imagine that it will be bulletproof and handle more than the ZF8 before requiring an upgrade.

I wonder how much of this was a really long term plan vs. reacting to the new Z. If it’s the latter, I wonder if the MT will be more of a base spec (maybe even 2.0 only?) option to get the price point down (vs. the higher end “track car” spec).

Supposedly the special edition is matte white paint with a tan leather interior.

After 40 years of driving manual sports cars and now having had some time driving autos for the past few years I'm done with manuals...That said, I'm still glad to see that Toyota is releasing a manual for the younger folks to enjoy playing with! They are engaging and fun to drive...

The only thing that would make me trade is if Toyota announced a Targa version...
