The only manual i currently own is a 98 Cabrio. Daughter drives it and I will admit, despite its puny 90hp it is fun to over drive.
Have an older M3 that i am going to swap to manual and that will be a forever car.

I think moderate powered cars you can over drive are fun. High hp manuals are a waste if you are serious about 1/4 or road track and being fast.

In the future when i see a Manual Supra I am going to think: kid, JDM fast and furious boi, or someone who just wants an engaging run around town or to the winery- weekend trip (rarest) guy.

I'm living a very different life to this thread.

Ordered a BZ4X this morning. ?

Happy for everyone that wants to change their own gears though.

After 40 years of driving manual sports cars and now having had some time driving autos for the past few years I'm done with manuals...That said, I'm still glad to see that Toyota is releasing a manual for the younger folks to enjoy playing with! They are engaging and fun to drive...

The only thing that would make me trade is if Toyota announced a Targa version...

I wonder how many of the people asking for a manual have actually even driven an A90\91. Even with the traction control on, the 3.0 can be a handful. I've been driving manual WRXs and STIs for the past 20 years, some upgraded with a lot more power than the 3.0. They weren't as squirrely as this thing is when you're hooning. I'm wasn't a fan first reading about it but after driving it I am okay with it having an automatic. I don't know if I would ever go to a manual with this car now, especially with a S58 engine.

Edit: Also the 16 year old taking my order at the local Chic-Fil-a told me he was saving up for one. Next time I go back I will have to tell him to hold on for the manual. ROFL

I ordered my 440i new and spec'd in manual. I did my part ? But glad to see this is finally being offered. Hopefully people continue buying them after the initial hype wears off.

Imagine that, it's 2025-2026, everyone is going EV, and you can walk into a Toyota dealership and get three performance platforms, all manuals.

I only lusted for manuals in the 80s 90's early 2000s cars because the autos were so bad...but now the manual can take a hike as far as I am concerned.

Put some money down to get on a “list” that didn’t exist a couple weeks ago. I am first on that list :)

Excited about the prospect of a manual, B58 Supra in black.

B48 manual... 258 torques
B48 automatic.... 295 torques

Do ya think they will do the same on B58 supra?

If this manual transmission can’t hold more power than the auto. I really don’t see the benefits. IMO ??‍♂
The clutch replacement cost will be fun with this. No thanks on a manual. ZF8 is a super gearbox auto or manual mode. The left foot is not a better manager of power. This entire 'manual-purist' shite is hilarious lol

Just got back from putting down a deposit for a manual 3.0 premium at whatever MSRP ends up being. This is going to be a long 6 months if the delivery time frame leaks are correct.

I'd also bet that unlike the current premium manuals bring for the MK4, the auto in the MK5 will retain its value more
Many current platforms already exhibit this pattern, for sure.

Performance autos in the last 10 years are game changing.

If that’s true, it already shows how MT models won’t be able to hand an OTS map (or JB4) without a clutch upgrade.

Agreed.

But choice is good and manuals may mean we can pick up a cheap MT Supra in the future for drift projects.

Man, for showcasing the 3 pedals, the Supra really has boring and ugly pedals. I would have thought they upgraded the generic plastic pedals for this model

This is the thing. As auto’s go the ZF gets a good rep. I hope the manual doesn’t let the car down. BMW are not renowned for the best of gear shifts.

It’s difficult to know what to do in my case with mine on order for an august delivery. I’ve always stuck with manuals and the supra was going to be my experiment for moving to an auto to see if I liked them or not. Hope it’s not a decision I’ll regret taking delivery of an auto still
That's what the biggest holdup most likely was, was the need for a Supra manual to be able to live up to the "Supra" reputation. In terms of shifting feel and durability, it has to be on point, and that was gonna take some time.
