2021 2.0 Supra 24Hr Test Drive Coming Up--Anything to Lookout For?

Hey, everyone. This is my first post here, and I tried to make sure there wasn't a similar post floating around out there already.

Is there anything--such as common points of failure or issues--that I should look out for while test driving a 2.0 Supra? I will have the car for 24Hrs--thanks CarMax. Given that amount of time, I am hoping to have time to really look the car over.

Right now, I am trying to decide if the Supra 2.0 will be "enough" to sate my hunger for a "fast" daily driver. Honestly, I am torn between 2.0 and 3.0, but I cannot decide if I should spend the extra money on the 3.0. For that reason, I am starting my testing with a 2.0. If I like it enough, then I won't bother testing a 3.0.

Yeah, I've been there a few times....HP and performance upgrades vs the more sensible move. Be sure that the 2.0 is what you what so you don't have buyers remorse. later If you can float it, go for what you want the 3.0. If waiting will provide time to have better funding, wait. It's your call, and an extended wait may be a better move than pulling the trigger and questioning your decision later.

Hi, I have the 3.0 premium and really enjoy it as a daily. The 3.0 has the automatic variable suspension so the ride is on firm side but won't beat u up. Did a few road trips and no issues with comfort. So try to drive it on imperfect roads like u would for basic errands and see if the basic suspension on 2.0 works for you as it doesn't have the AVS. Don't worry about power difference or 0-60 numbers those are totally pointless. If you have a significant other have them ride shotgun and get their feedback on how it feels too. 3.0 also has brembo brakes and 8-way power adjustment seats. 2.0 is more manual seat adjustment. That could be a deal breaker if you are tall or have a long torso.

Hey, everyone. I’m finally getting the chance to test drive the 2.0; so far, I’m wanting a bit more power. It’s a great car, but I also really miss wireless charging and power assist leather seats. After returning this one, I’m going to test a ‘21 3.0.

In regards to the manual announcement, would it be smart for me to wait on purchasing an automatic ‘21 3.0? I’m not well-versed in price forecasting for vehicles, so I’m going to be stupid and accept someone’s opinion on the internet. ? While I’m capable of driving a manual, I have no issues with the ZF8 or using the paddles. I think it responds great in “manual” mode, and I get the benefit of an automatic when traffic becomes unwieldy. I’ll stick with an automatic this time around; my previous Mustang and Camaro sated the manual itch.

Also since you're in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if these come with huge markups.

Hi friend, I say just go ahead and buy the car you can enjoy right now. If you have the money and health to enjoy it, I say just treat yourself now. I waited several months for mine and it was worth it, but it was already built and on its way from Austria when I ordered it. Manual version may be great but don't know allocation, price, or when you can get one.

2.0 is going to just be disappointment. This is a sports car, not a daily grocery car. You’ll enjoy the power, exhaust note, attention, etc that you won’t get with the 2.0

Please please don’t buy a 2.0 with the intention to mod. This is like buying a v6 charger then boosting it. It’s a money pit, devalues the car, and still won’t be as fast as the larger engine straight away. Those that budget mods on a 2.0 could have just spent it all on a stock 3.0 and been ever more happy. No shade at anyone that did it but I’m just being real

My girlfriend has the 2.0 while I have the 3.0, so I occasionally have the experience of going from one to the other. The 2.0's suspension actually feels a bit softer than the 3.0 out of the box, at least when it comes to speed bumps and stuff. It's also way less twitchy on the throttle, and quieter. But those are all expected, given the different parts between the two!

I will say that, compared to the high-torque 3.0, it feels like you have to work for that power in the 2.0. Which is kind of nice in the way that the GT86 had a fairly linear powerband. It also gets much better gas mileage if you're a mild driver (she gets like 30MPG easy).

On the other hand, if you end up with a 3.0 and want the ability to tone it down a bit, code in Comfort Plus mode, and you'll probably be happy with it. From a stop, it takes off in 2nd gear, and pretty much always shifts at 3k RPM.

You know, just driving around the streets, I don’t notice too much difference. I’ve only tracked my 3.0, and haven’t taken hers to a mountain pass or anything. I wouldn’t even describe the 2.0 as feeling noticeable lighter, just a little less squirrelly due to less power.

I can second this. After testing both, I do not notice a significant difference in the feeling of weight between the two cars. However, the power discrepancy is massive for me. The 3.0 has power anywhere I want it, and I have to work to get power out of the 2.0.

Overall, I have decided to get a 3.0. Now, I just need to land one in the $55k-$56k range that isn't beat to shit.
