Wrong. That's exactly what I did for my A91, and exactly what I did for a GRC. It shows the dealer you're serious, and in turn Toyota.
I gave the dealer a $1k deposit the day after the A91 was unveiled, got my paperwork saying MSRP, as soon as the allocations were known I knew I was getting one, then we specced the car, little later I got my VIN, little after that I drove the car home.

Doing the exact same process for a GRC.
My dealership won’t even charge my deposit until they have the vspec for the car. But then again dealers across the country are handling this very differently. I’m pretty sure I saw you post over on the GRC forum also. Somebody mentioned On there a few dealerships had to cancel their waitlists

I've had a lot of sports cars over the years, some auto/dct and some manual. I've decided for myself--and it's not even close--that the fun and engagement from driving a manual transmission outweighs the performance advantages of an automatic. I am not chasing lap times and quartermile tenths anymore.

So this announcement is what will bring me back into the fold. My Vette is a great car... better than I expected it to be. But I've always been a JDM fan at heart. I'm prepared to wait until the dealerships aren't gouging people with markups though, so I'm guessing 2024.
Hate to burst your JDM bubble…..

The Manual Tranmission Supra 3.0L Sraight-6, will be the last of its kind from TOYOTA. Whether we like to drive manual or not, this is the last “gift” for driving enthusiasts & fans. Thank you to TOYOTA, Morizo & Tada-san.
Well this and the GR Corolla

I mean yes, I get that it isn't really a complete JDM vehicle. My S2000 lowered and on Volks that I had 17+ years ago is what got me started down the path and the MKV isn't that, but it is closer to that than my current C7. That said, I'll definitely drive one (the Supra with the manual) before selling my C7 just to make sure it isn't purely nostalgia that is driving my decision.

Not my picture but falls in line with the real model numbers of today. This might be it.
Pretty sure this is fake. Sent this to my Toyota contact and he sent back a video of that screen and they don’t exist. Also land cruiser won’t be offered in the USA. So it’s not even accurate.

It's funny how awfully quite the insiders over at bimmerpost have been. ?
IIRC they said this would never happen. Looks like they have egg on their faces now lol.
I'm assuming you guys are referring to ynguldyn? Before he deletes all of his post to save face here is everything he has said regarding the manual.

There will be no manual Supra 40i. Those who decide to wait will only die frustrated.
Toyota simply can't offer something that BMW doesn't make.
This is not how it works.

I'd love to see it happen. ... But it won't.

I'd love to see it happen. My wife is a hard no on the Supra right now specifically because it doesn't have the manual option while otherwise it'd be a perfect car for her needs.

But it won't.
All this time I've been trying to make a single point, which is simple but difficult to accept by the local crowd: the Supra is designed and built by BMW, so only the hardware offered by BMW can go into it. It is clear that BMW has no interest in offering manuals. So, Toyota has two choices: work with ZF directly on adapting an existing transmission from BMW F2x/F3x, or go to Aisin and have them develop a brand new unit. In both cases, they would have to take over engineering works (build cars with these transmissions, write new software for them, do both instrumental and road tests, crash analysis, etc.) from BMW. All of that to satisfy maybe a few thousand buyers across the whole world. Does this sound realistic?

So, again, my point: manuals will only happen if BMW decides to develop that option. As of now, they have not.

Right, rumor being keyword lol.
Reality is BMW and Toyota relationship is very slow and BMW was very hesitant to even give up the 2021 powertrain with updated power numbers along with other things. Lack of updates is not on the Toyota end, BMW doesn't like how badly it's outselling the Z4.

Idk where you heard that from but if it's true the GRMN won't happen until the very end according to Bestcarweb which has a really good track record when it comes to the J29. Maybe it has poor sales in the U.S., but the Z4 does very well in Europe.

I'll be very upfront with you you don't know as much as you think that's the reality. BMW and Toyota relationship is not bad but not the best. I'm strictly talking about US sales here.
