Darn, I thought I was a real enthusiast…

This is the problem. Someone on the internet says something else is superior and must put down others in the process.

I’m so glad that those who want a manual Supra will be able to get one! I guarantee not everyone who buys the manual will be an enthusiast in the same way that many of those who bought/will buy the automatic are enthusiasts.

An enthusiast can have an automatic Supra. A non-enthusiast can have a manual Supra. An enthusiast can have an auto C8 that isn’t a Z06. An enthusiast can have a Miata with 116hp. Hell, an enthusiast can have any car they want configured however they want.

It’s not what you have, it’s the respect you show for the sport.

Last time I checked production EVs also lack a third pedal so there isn't going to be a whole lot of change in the driving experience from driving an automatic anyway.

If it wasn't for safety reasons, with aggressive regen braking, I'm sure they'd get rid of the brake pedal as well ?. Next, no pedals, fully autonomous anyhow..

I had a 2021, sold it at a price I couldn't refuse and bought myself a 2022 at a good price.

Now I might have to trade it in for a 2023 manual. It's the one thing this car lacks for me. Don't care if its not as fast, the engagement and enjoyment from a manual car makes weekend drives that much better.

I'm lost as what to do here...

There's a 2022 3.0 coming at the end of June that already has my name to it but the dealership said that I can switch the deposit to either wait for a manual Supra or a GR Corolla. I'm more inclined to switch the deposit for a manual Supra/Corolla but it's not a guarantee that I'd be able to get either of them because of the allocation.

What would you guys do in my position? Take the guaranteed 2022 Supra or switch the deposit to either the manual/Corolla (circuit)?

They should make the Supra in North America Manual only for 2023 onward. Follow the GR Corolla lead. At least our Auto cars will hold value with lower numbers. There are plenty on the used market for anyone that wants an Auto

If by North America you mean USA then sure, but in Canada we still want auto trannies, thank you.
Not everyone cares about manuals and I don't want to rely only on used market so no reason to limit the options

The Golf R. Been looking at getting a lightly used 2021 or a new 2022 as a kid hauler and most VW guys seem to agree the DSG is better than the manual.

I'll also raise you a Veloster N. Savageese, who I respect immensely, declared the auto to be the better trans

I keep reading about deposits… Guys, do yourselves a favor. Don’t give a dealership any of your monies at this time. A vehicle that doesn’t exist in Toyota’s retail database is also one that can’t be found to even put a deposit on. They are simply taking you out of the market.

Only trying to be helpful. Any dealer that tells you they have a deposit ask them for the interim VIN.

Excited about the prospect of a manual, B58 Supra in black.

I put in an order about 3 weeks ago just waiting for official pricing been first on the list at my local dealer, deposit down, since rumours started flying.

Toyota needs to put the MT on the 2.0L and some large brake calipers, 19” wheels, and it is game.

MT on the 3.0L is just slowing down the car.. most people that call themselves “car enthusiast” can’t even drive MT all that well anyway, who they kidding?

Then you got the pansies that can’t drive MT at all say the AT is SO MUCH BETTER!

Then you got some idiot saying raisins in cookies is good.. no it is not.
