Interesting, this talk of automotive press being chiefly responsible for why some people like manual transmissions in certain kinds of performance cars.

None of that makes a difference to me. I just *like* driving manual transmission cars and find them to be lots of fun and my preference for a transmission.

There are other fun cars out there that also do not have traditional three-pedal manual transmissions. Variety of choice is great!

I really do not understand why, after four years of production, the emergence of a Toyota Supra with a manual transmission gets this much hate and derision. Some people really wanted the option from the first model year and now they're excited that it's *finally* available.

I wont miss any of this at all. The soul or engagement issue with a 3rd pedal. The magazine and propaganda work well on many. Drive what you like. Enjoy it as its personal. The auto press needs to be ignored. They are turning a personal choice political and convincing 'enthusiasts' what they think it means. No car with a manual is an enthusiasts choice. Its a choice. The enthusiast is behind the wheel enjoying what he chose. Not the ignorant bloody press.

For all they print they offer about 1% information that might help an enthusiast make a decision. The rest is so personal if the press died and disappeared who would miss them lol.

The few brainswashed posts here saying a manual is soul etc is P A T H E T I C.
Some are literally satire though. Read them carefully. “Manuel”? Really? That’s how 18 year olds in clapped out civics address things.

Imagine comparing a manual 911 GT3 to a Ford Fiesta with PowerShift DCT. Your point again?
Stupid comment. My point is (again) nobody is arguing a manual is an enthusiast's car, but some "special people" say that automatics/DCT's aren't.

What do you think Toyota means by tailor made Manual?
Take it with a grain of salt. It may be slightly adjusted from whatever BMW offers. Toyota's marketing hasn't been the best (IMO) for this car from statements such as enhanced tuning support and things like the 'fake' vents being turned functional. There is some idea there but, it is also marketing drivel.

I don’t think I’ve seen so many toxic people posting up on this forum as I have within the past month. There’s enough of it on this thread, the way that it spiraled in the “terrible Toyota service” thread etc. wtf happened. All these new people and it’s getting out of control.

Driver Engagement (pedal and selector feel).

The teasers emphasize it’s a separate model rather than an transmission option for an existing variant.

But the b58 is already paired with the MT in several other BMW models
BMW has not paired the B58TU with a MT in any market worldwide. BMW Group is the entity with regards to emissions in this venture. Within the Group, there are two global emissions Pools, BMW AG+Mini and M GmbH+Rolls-Royce. Only the latter has R6+MT Emissions Test Group.

People get way too caught up in these hypothetical nonsense scenarios, "auto is faster", "gapplebees" etc. Nobody is a racing driver and these aren't race cars, no matter how many track days or autocross events you go to.

People get caught up in it, because that's how the industry sells cars. Billions of dollars are spent each year on cars which are marketed on the Nurburgring and how fast it goes around and how much faster it was than it's competition.

Performance numbers sell.

I think my comment was very much relevant. You’re comparing a top of the line Porsche with DCT to an econobox Honda with a manual trans. Apples to apples comparison to that is a top of the line Porsche with manual trans to an econobox Ford with a DCT.

Danny, just get your vag rash treated and let people be happy about transmission options on the MKV Supra.

My money is on small specific changes to fit the existing ZF 6MT into the Supra.
Things like shift linkage, final drive ratio, programming.
I'd be surprised if it's much more than that.

For those not familiar, the 6MT in the current M3 is just about a complete carry over from the previous gen, clutch included.

Since, like BMW, Toyota also likes saving money I expect most of these parts to also be out of the BMW parts catalog. Expect a ZF GS6 trans with a dual-mass flywheel and twin-disk clutch.

I'm not comparing them at all. You're just being difficult because you got something against me personally, which is your problem.

All I'm saying is there's people on here that consider a manual Civic an enthusiast's car, because it has a manual, but not a Cayman GT4 RS because it has a PDK.

I can't dumb it down any more for you. So I'm sorry if you still don't get it.

Your counter argument makes no sense whatsoever, and is only made to start shit.

Does this set up have the clutch delay valve?
