2023 Manual Supra
Any of these reviews talk suspension changes? If not I'm assuming it's insignificant
Some of them did, each mentioned that the changes weren't too noticeable but admitted they would need to test the 2022 back to back with the 2023 on a track to make a definitive statement.

LOL!

Also, I doubt adding a manual will cause 0.5-0.6 seconds delay to 60. Motor Trend are not well regarded for their instrumented testing. Let's see what some of the others produce. And I say this as someone who really likes the ZF8.... and as of this moment, not sure which way I want to go vis a vis transmission for m'future Supra.
Haha, yeah, 4.4 sec is still respectable(?), but very soon you'll have EV Kia's blowing past a 4.4 sec Supra so it's not something to be comfortable with. It's a real tricky time for ICE sports cars as EV's are going to be so much faster roaming the streets.

Which kind of leads me to another perspective.. how about forgetting the sprints from zero since EV's are going to be faster anyway and just get a GR86 MT for half the price.. :dunno: and enjoy the GT style driving while keeping your ZF8 Supra.

Maybe, maybe not. As a (fellow) GTI owner, you know that while nice, the manual option doesn’t always command a premium over the auto on the used market (at least in the short term). Who knows 20 years from now, though…
Yeah but a GTI is made for convenience.. a manual in a sportscar.. well that's a different proposition altogether!

I'm glad to see the manual Supra doing well in the automotive press. Personally will keep my AT to keep my sanity in traffic up and down I-85 but really happy to see IMO the positive press the Supra always deserved but never really got.

Gotta disagree. Many enthusiasts will seek out manual tranmission cars just because they enjoyed them so much over the years. And I'm sure we can both agree that the supply of manual transmission cars will be much less than automatic versions of the same car. That's what drives values up.
I for one didn't consider the Supra ownable until the manual was announced but that's just me.

Oof I'm split between the manual or auto. I have a A91 in matte white coming my way soon with 4k add ons on top of MSRP but my salesman keeps ignoring me which isn't a good sign. I also can get an stratosphere blue auto for 1.5k below MSRP and the bumper+hood with ppf. The manual will be more fun but when I drove my friends 2020, the auto was fantastic.

I love the auto guys coming in here to tell the manual guys that what they want is wrong. It’s almost as if different people have different preferences. Why don’t they just make them all 1 color while we’re at it? Let people buy and enjoy what they want.

I honestly didn’t even pay much attention to the Supra until the manual was announced. It was that big a deal to me. Test drove the auto and loved the car. The auto is excellent but just doesn’t do anything for me. I drove the new M4 auto also and thought the same thing. I have 2 deposits down now for the manual Supra and couldn’t be more excited. You think I care about losing a few tenths on 0-60?

By the way I tried to get a GR86 for 5 months and finally gave up. I know I would have been underwhelmed by the power and lack of creature comforts anyway so the Supra is really the way to go.

Rolls are a different story and only some EVs (currently) can hang at the top end.

You're right. It's a platform to build a 1/4 mile car out of.
No, it's much more than that. Guys like you crack me up. If 1/4 mile is all you care about, for about the same money, you can just get a Model 3 Performance. And to make a Supra match that performance, you need to spend a lot of money on mods. And once you go down that rabbit hole, you might as well just have purchased a low 9-second Plaid.

To me, sports cars are about spirited driving on a mountain road or in the canyons. I'm so glad I'm past the point in my life that acceleration is what matters most. You'll set yourself up for disappointment living like that because there will always be faster cars. And that's especially true as more and more EVs hit the streets. I wonder how you'll feel the first time a Rivian R1T truck leaves you in the dust at a stoplight. And just for the record, those Rivians will out accelerate a Model 3 Performance, so they are pretty quick for sure.

The older I get, the less I care about 0-60 times on street-focused sports cars. It's just marketing nonsense at the end of the day anyways. That being said, anything that can repeatedly clock sub six seconds is plenty quick enough to threaten your driver's license, and enough fun to make you want to do it again and again. 🤪
Exactly. It means practically nothing to me. As long as a car has enough power to make it fun for me, I'm fine with it. I guess everyone has his own level of performance that is acceptable, I'll acknowledge that much. For me, something like a GR86 just seems a little too anemic. And honestly, I'm more about torque than HP. With modern cars, it's normally turbo cars that give you the low end torque that I really like. The Supra hits a sweet spot for me. It's fast enough to be fun and it definitely has nice low end torque.

For the same reason, I actually preferred the OG M2 over the M2 Competition. I drove both and despite the fact that the M2C was the faster car, the OG M2 had noticeably better low end torque and was more fun to drive.

My best friend works for Rivian. I borrow her R1T often. I had an M3P. It was fantastic. I like drag racing, so I build drag racing cars. I also have other cars. I've been drag racing for 20 years, and I still love it. I also love that EVs are fast. I don't care about winning as much as I care about the atmosphere at the track, the friendship you make there, hauling cars across the country with friends you make along the way, etc. It's a fantastic hobby, and I don't think I'll ever give it up.

I've never lost a race and been disappointed, only try to learn how to get better. It's no different than working on your golf shot, shooting a basketball, trying to advance your career and move up the old corporate ladder, or getting better at crocheting or making jams.

I'm really happy that you like tearing up mountain canyons. I used to have motorcycles for those kinds of trips. It says you have a Jeep in your profile, so I assume you like offroading. I have quads and snowmobiles for that, though I am in the market for a solid off-road rig.

That's the thing about life. Different people like different things. To you, sports cars are for canyons. To me it's about going straight for 9 seconds, waiting to see what blows up next. Pushing platforms and finding and reaching limits. Blow something up, buy another and try again. It's fun. It's what drag racers do.

You 'spirited driver' types don't crack me, you make me smile. Variety is what makes us all interesting.

Edit: The whole point of my first post (replying to you saying there are two types of people, those who love manuals, and those that don't understand a connection with a machine) was just to point out that everyone likes different things. It's not that black and white.

Me too. I've liked them since day one, but had no interest in owning one because no manual. I actually toyed with the idea of buying one and having it manual swapped by that company (forgot the name) who successfully completed a manual swap, but I decided against it mostly because I didn't want to pay that kind of money to have someone pull apart my new Supra in the hopes that it would all work as advertised. And also I thought that a manual might become available, which obviously came to be.
