I have then both laying around. I can toss 'em on the scale again. But it is not lighter.
Won't be the first time marketing has lied about specs

I'll take your word for it
Their website description sounded super generic

So with this in mind... If Toyota refreshes the Supra for MY26-30 with the Z4 interior and updated iDrive since BMW is no longer competing in the same segment, does Toyota make the refresh with at least the B58 and if the S58 Iā€™d be in line. Do they continue with MKV or MKVI possibly?
no Z4 = no Supra.

If Toyota was somehow able to keep producing cars at the 3rd party Magna Steyr plant I would think they would keep using BMW parts. There is just no way Toyota keeps the same chassis in production and switches to a new engine. Of course I highly doubt the supra in its current generation will continue without Z4.

I predict 2025 will be the last year for this gen Supra. We will eventually get a new generation Supra that comes out by 2030-2035ish, probably electric. I do think after this generation Supra goes out of production we won`t see another one for a while like before.

From what I have heard from someone close to Toyota, thatā€™s not the caseā€¦the current Supra will continue even when the. Z4 is out of production. In fact it will give Toyota more space to changes as now their engineers have to work with the parts/components used on the Z4. When the z4 is gone, that constraint goes out the window.

i believe post 25 we will see more substantial changes on the Supra

That would be great and it makes sense seeing how the Supra does sell well. However I don`t believe we will see massive changes to the Supra due to cost of development. They already spent millions on the current setup and have BMW proven parts. But I could see non mechanical changes coming.

I think I read that the Supra will only stay in production for a few months after the Z4 ends. 3/2026 if I remember correctly. After that the next A100 will be an house project with a V6 turbo power plant.

From all of our past insider info the game plan seems to have always been for the Supra MKV to have a final 2026 *model year*, which means it would go into final orders and new sales sometime in the actual year 2025.

I don't think Toyota can financially shoulder the entire MKV project on their own once BMW pulls the plug on the current Z4 as was pre-planned for a certain date.

As for the A100... it's supposed to be happening with development underway now but with such conflicting rumor info about it there isn't a clear tell-tale as to whether it will be a gasoline-electric hybrid turbocharged vehicle or a full electric. Hopefully we will know more sooner rather than later.

the Z4 did enter production a few months before the Supra so i dont think it would be too crazy if Toyota ended production a bit later. however i cant seem to find anything on bimmerpost regarding the Supra's EOP date.

Some rumors have suggested that 2023 is the last year. Who knows.
That's definitely not the case as MY2023's are on sale right now with current updates. Toyota, BMW and Magna-Steyr will stick to their original production schedule... but I also don't see them extending it.

Umm.. If 2023 is the last year, then there would be no MY24s, not MY23s. I don't claim to know anything - I said rumour - but MY23s existing is not a really a valid argument for production not ending this calendar year. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

It makes no sense that MY23 is the last year of production when they have spent so much money on developing the 6MT for the Supra...also why would MY23 be the last year if the Z4 is still in production? Given the new Z is going to be around for quite some time (even the 14 years old GTR got a lifeline with the new MY24), there is no way Toyota will can it without another halo car.

When the Z4 ends, Toyota has at least 2 options if they want to continue on with the current Supra

1. When the initial partnership was instigated, the binding agreement was that BMW has the responsibility to support all the parts as long as the Supra is still in production, irrespective of the EOP schedule of the Z4. This may or may not be the case.

2. Moved the manufacturing back to Japan, they have all the technical specs and blueprints on all the parts so they can get their local contractors to manufacture all the parts and the assembling done at the GR plant in Motomachi. The motor will be Toyota's given how much they have learnt from the B58, they now have the capability to engineer a better version of it. This makes the Supra a 100% Toyota car from a manufacturing perspective, shutting up most of the boring old critics and will also help with the local parts industry. They might even call it the A100, pretty much like what Porsche did with the 718 given that it is actually an evolution of the 981.
