As a big as anyone BMW fan, I passed on the previous M2 v Supra. Was shopping both.

As a track rat and weight being the enemy- hard pass now

If you are a weekend car, back roads, go out to dinner the new M2 would be typical BMW awesome.

I was undecided on going new M2 or Supra when I was shopping last year. I honestly wanted the M2 for the back seats and sunroof, but once I saw the body in the leaked photos as well as the easter pastel colors it comes in that pushed me all the way Supra.

I really wanted an M2, but I could not justify the added costs for a faster car that looked like someone painted their foot with their kid's easter egg coloring kit. If they just didn't give it that squared off nostril look and sold it in laguna blue I would have gone M2.

That said, I love my Supra and I think for the money it is the better car for me.

Hi OP. If you've enjoyed your ownership experience with the Supra and looking for something different, I support trading out for something else. Dealer down the street has an M2 fully loaded coming in soon, whoever takes delivery of that will be a lucky ?! Interestingly they also have a M4 CSL too...but I don't think any nibbles on that one. Anyway, glad u liked the Supra and enjoy ur new M2.

The M brand is too diluted now
As a previous owner of 3 M cars, the M2 strikes me as .......meh
The engine is shared with an SUV
The car weighs nearly 4000 lbs
Nothing special about the body compared to the regular 2
You can get M mirrors and carbon roof on M performance models now
M cars used to be special
Bespoke engines , DCT transmission, bespoke mirrors , CF drive shaft , M seats , bespoke M instrumental cluster
Now it's all the same with other cars
same here. I quit BMW after my e92 m3 kept me up all night worrying about rod bearings (loved the s65 though). BMW focuses on 0-60 times and tech now ,not emotion or driving experience . And let’s not forget their future plan to make people pay micro transactions for heated seats and navigation.

I don’t disagree, but I do believe that the parts bin approach has contributed to BMW’s increasing reliability, including the shared-with-SUVs-B58 that we have in the Supra.

There’s a lot not to like about the M2, but the S58, M-brand (despite being diluted), back seats if you require it, etc. all have some appeal.

I think M2s will hold their value better (especially manual).

And I think that once we see them starting to be modified (appearance and power), the tone will change around here (ESPECIALLY if it comes with a beefier ZF than the Supra stock which I believe it would have to given the output of the S58).

Supra definitely is the best looking car this side of six figures, and the M2 should have come with better colors and the Individual program.

My dad is on the list for a M2 at our local dealership. I think the Supra is rarer and more unique. Plus the B58 sounds way better. My dad struggled getting in and out of my supra unlike my moms M240i. The M2 will be more comfortable and overall better performance car.

I love the F87 M2 Comps, was a real tough decision between one of them and my new Supra. In the end the Supra won out because it felt more special and I was able to get it brand new for the same price as a F87 M2C was used, but would have been super happy with one too. I am unsure on the G87 because of it's increased weight, but I am sure it will be a stellar car with an amazing interior that will certainly be better than our Supras, but it's still not going to be a better pure sports car. If/when I get bored of my Supra in a couple years, the G87 will probably be high on the list of cars I replace it with, but for now I am enjoying the lightweight, low, 2 seater beast that is the A90.

I was really excited for the new M2. A refresh of the best looking M car in the line up and it was getting the S58? Wow. Then I saw that it had apparently been the victim of a horrible accident and became obese. Hard pass.
My M2 is scheduled for Production week 20 in May. Be here to Germany by late June or early July. Im very happy to see this moving along. Red/bicolor(silver wheels - black alcantara interior) Should be a fun ride!!

Congratulations on the new car. It doesn’t tick enough boxes for me but if it does for you it I’m sure it’ll put a smile on your face. Frankly, that’s all that matters.

Yes its good to actually like what you drive. After that arrives we will order the Lotus Emira i4 model. Sell the M240i when the Lotus is in transit. Will be a bit of a wait for the Lotus but worth it we hope.

The factory in Mexico is not setup for the individual paint option available on the M3/M4. The probability of that is very low during the M2 production. The color palette is limited and is not very exciting. Ive ordered Toronto Red which I do like. Was either Red or Black.

My 2017 M2 was Long Beach Blue. Really nice color. Was hoping that would have been a choice but no.

Will you be exiting the Supra to get into the M2?

Yes I had sold my Supra 2.0 model some time ago. I really enjoyed my Supra. The Supra is a superb sportscar. The 2.0 is a nicely overlooked 'secret' of a sportscar. Too much focus on power/torque etc. The 2.0 has a nice balance and a touch of lower tech better driving vibe vs the 3.0 models. No power seats etc. If one keeps their foot out of the boost lol - some rewarding fuel economy is never a bad thing. We discussed having a 3.0 here in Germany but the M2 is interesting and ordering early paid off. So we shall give it a go.

I will post here about it. I really like this forum.. Full of sportscar happy people unlike other forums. That includes some BMW forums as well. I have had many BMW's - the forums are not as good as the cars LOL! :)
