You get one chance to make a first impression. And this car has made like 20 different first impression launches with all the leaks and camo appearances. A total and absolute fail by Toyota marketing department. Look how awesome Dodge handled the Demon launch. It built up to this epic moment in NYC. And nobody knew the final numbers / specs until Dodge dropped the bomb live.

I'll say this. This car looks cool but it's just not screaming ICONIC Supra to me at all. I'm sorry. I just see the BMW trying to break free. The LFA to me looked more like a modern Supra than this.

I'll save my final opinions for the 21st version of the launch happening in two weeks.

Kudos to Dodge, but were people anxiously waiting for the Demon for the past 10 years? Also how many enthusiasts? Tbh, I saw mules of Demon and Hellcat around MI, but didn't care as much. Maybe I'm off as I'm not looking to 700+hp my cars and go to gas station every 5 mins... I didn't mind the every so often hype from Toyota and BMW. kept hopes up and their progress...

I kinda don't lol. Preferred it with the initial teaser reveal of the yellow one with it just saying "Supra" and having the Toyota badge on the trunk lid. Looks a lot cleaner like that IMO. Oh well, nothing a simple emblem delete won't fix.;)
A simple aftermarket solution for sure. But what they will reveal officially will be the one that counts, for most. Something like... itā€™ll be the original version, then whatever you modify, it will be according to your own taste. Well, no matter what, a Supra is a Supra; and Iā€™m looking forward to the reveal. LOL:thumbsup:

Jesus Christ @SupraFiend. Are you actually underestimating Toyota's integrity? I could make a god damn book as to why these guys are the most anal in detail, quality and performance.

I mean... these are the guys who initially made an excuse that a MT can't happen because the torque from the Supra will be "too much" for it to handle. Let me name you some manufacturers who don't give a shit about that.

- Chevrolet
- Ford
- Dodge

And those are just three examples that I thought of in a split second. Imagine if I worked a little deeper to find dirt on other OEM's as well. Come the hell on man how dense can people get in this forum?!?!?! :banghead: <-- Me when I see some people's responses.

Also, you do realize why Toyota continued to leave a 15 year old engine in their Corolla (ending with the 11th generation). Oh right. Reliability. How about their 2GR 3.5L V6 engine? That thing is STILL in production in modern cars (though not that old but it is beginning to show some age), still performing extremely well and giving a good scare to the Europeans and other manufacturers, and doing this SINCE 2006. I am betting right now that engine will stay in production until 2025 at least. They developed the shit out of the engine from the mid to late 90's, pushing over 300 horsepower. Just take two seconds to think about that. They spent years mastering their up and coming V6 to give the biggest horror to every other manufacturer. When it came out, it absolutely BLEW everything to smithereens. It wiped the floor with the competition. Guess how long it took the Germans to catch up? I don't know... maybe like... 10 or so years? They made sure everything was at the level of perfection in terms of reliability, performance, quality and resistant to stress.

You do realize this is why they took forever with this new one. There was something that had to be there at the least common denominator. It. Had. To. Be. Reliable. There is ABSOLUTELY no other way around it if they wanted the MKV Supra to be as good as it should be. They dissected everything to bits and sent everything to Japan to undergo so much quality and durability testing, and racked thousands of miles around the world. That's dedication, that's being meticulous, and obviously that's their goal to be in the pursuit of perfection, most of all, that is Toyota and Lexus in a nutshell.

They're flawed and dear god some of their flaws are annoying, but I haven't seen any other OEM that has worked as hard as these guys.

great post, but Toyota while still a great car company hasn't been as bullet proof as in the past. Its not just Toyota but Honda and Nissan as well.

people are no longer just doing routine maintenance on modern day toyota's, and their reliability suffered with their (japan) economy where they had to cut corners to be profitable, as well as toyota getting into the volume sales business.

^^ Hah! I was looking at the people online and your name caught my eye. I looked into you and how ironic you reply me. Hello fellow F1 fan. :headbang:

I respect your opinion. But I cannot buy that for a second. Nissan and Honda have been in the shits for the last couple of years (I would still trust Honda/Acura by a country mile than Nissan/Infiniti). I could make a very strong list that Toyota is problem free (in fact they are getting better time by time in many regards) and Nissan and Honda are worse than ever. I will list the major problems Nissan and Honda have.

Nissan:
- Interior build quality issues
- Horrible exterior safety
- Timing belt issues
- Starter issues
- Electrical issues
- Overheating issues
- In-car Mechanical issues
- And not forgetting the elephant in the room, the shitbox CVT.

Honda:
- Turbo issues
- Engine internal issues
- An assload of transmission issues
- Overheating issues

Toyota? Defects happen all the time but there isn't one major and recurring issue that these guys ever have. And they are the largest automotive company in the entire world.

Here we go. Could'nt do exactly the same, because the back view we come from is brighter than the front view.

Japanese made Nissans (Z, GTR, Infiniti) are generally good to go. It's the ones made elsewhere that get a bad rap and rightfully so.

I've had 3 personal friends that have had nothing but issues with Nissan USA vehicles. All 2004-2008 (Titan, Sentra, Maxima) models involving heavy cost cutting... I think there was a 2014 Rogue somewhere in there too (CVT issues) .

I also have plenty of friends with Zs, Qs (I own one), GTRs, and no issues other than regular wear items.

That's not quite the experience I've had with Nissan products. I know your anecdotal evidence is just as good as mine, so we'll leave it at that.

Been driving my Z since 2007. No timing belt issues...
I definitely believe that. You probably haven't heard the slightest squeak from your timing belt...

Toyota isnā€™t too bad but to say they donā€™t have recurring issues is wrong. You obviously know nothing about the Hilux (the byword for reliability) that for the last 8-10 years has been plagued by injector issues, chassis that rot through, front to back, in 3-4 years, infotainment that barely works, etc, etc.
Toyota are great but excessive fanboyism can ruin your credibility.

Iā€™m interested to see the actual car. A Cayman S pulled into the petrol station next to me the other day and it looked fantastic. Grown up but still pretty. Thatā€™s not what Iā€™m getting from the Supra renderings. Iā€™m (the only one thatā€™s) not worried about performance or reliability. I trust them on that, for me itā€™s looks and, ultimately, price that will win or lose my business.

Iā€™m hopeful. Toyota have struggled to get the 300 UK deposits and must have read the predominantly negative feedback online. This must have knocked their confidence so I think (hope) that will be shaping to final body tweaks (lips, wings, splitters, etc) and pricing.
