No problem, you will also have to take off the weight dampener to get to the fill plug.Damn, thanks man!
Appreciate it man. Any special tools for that? I didn't see anything special blocking it during a quick peek.No problem, you will also have to take off the weight dampener to get to the fill plug.
Dampener is attached to the subframe via an E12 torx bolt. Torque spec is 21 ft lbs.Appreciate it man. Any special tools for that? I didn't see anything special blocking it during a quick peek.

You can avoid removing that damper if you use a low profile allen key on the differential fill plug.
If you take this route you'll have to figure out how to torque that plug to spec.
Thank you.
Yup. 10 ft/lb. Basically a little more than hand tight.Thank you.
So when the oil temp sensor is removed the fluid pours out? Is there a torque spec to reinstall it?
Thanks razorlab!Yup. 10 ft/lb. Basically a little more than hand tight.

I will be doing this change as part of my winter maintenance.

Appreciate it, thanks.
hi bry, can i get the link to this? can't find much myself, need to change the diff fluid, was going to refer to BMW M instructions as reference.. proper instructions would be nice
That’s all you need to know. It’s super simple. Unplugging the sensor and filling up the diff is the only difficult part about this.hi bry, can i get the link to this? can't find much myself, need to change the diff fluid, was going to refer to BMW M instructions as reference.. proper instructions would be nice
edit: unless this is all i need to know?
