Hello! Posting my results from/review of my newly installed DAW UltraFlowX. Installed and tuned by Sam Performance, Dubai.

Goals:
  • Street car (no or limited track use)
  • Realiability
  • Pump gas only - 98RON (no methanol, no ethanol)
  • 550whp target (want to outrun M4 comps on paper)
Setup:
  • Eventuri intake
    • Will be swapping to MSTv2 (see issues below)
    • Will also be adding an AOS soon
  • FTP Chargepipe
  • DAW 5" catless downpipe
  • DAW UltraFlow X turbo
  • HKS Dual muffler catback
  • Stock cooling system
    • Tuner did not notice crazy high IAT on the dyno. But he did tweek some fan settings. Will be upgrading this soon nonetheless.
Conditions:
  • Fuel: 98 pump gas (no meth, no ethanol)
  • Ambient temp: ~30-35°C (Dubai, UAE)
Results:
  • Low boost (21psi target): 470whp 445wtq (lb.ft)
  • High boost (26psi target): 550whp 507wtq (lb.ft)
Impressions:
  • Insane to drive, coming from BM3 OTS with catted dp (~420whp). Almost dangerous but exhilarating
  • Not as much turbo spool noise as i expected. Thats fine, I dont have the T51R mod.
  • Turbo lag is very noticable before 3500rpm, much more than stock. DAW is not not a twin scroll as far as I know and this is probably expected for a larger turbo. Also been told its easier on the engine to gradually ramp up boost.
Issues:
  • DAW turbo inlet seems to have been built for the MST v2's size. My Eventuri piping diameter was to small at the inlet side. Had to make a custom adapeter. Will be switching to MST v2 soon.
  • The turbo smokes very slightly on cold start and hard pulls. You can smell the burnt oil. Tuner told me this is common for DAW UltraFlow X customers and that DAW supplies a Oil feed restrictor to prevent this. Will be chasing Shawn from DAW about this. Will keep yall posted.

Nice. Planning to d some ethanol tunning? should wake up the turbo a little bit
Yes, once i am confortable with this power level ? it is hard to keep traction even now. Currently on 305/35/19 PS4S. I will be swapping to semi slicks soon.

Ethanol is not available at the pump here. But im surely intrested in going the flex route for fun on the weekends.

I'm thinking of going back to a catted DP (AA 400cel). The catless just does not sound as good to my ears.

How much power would you expect to lose? Going from catless to catted

Get a 200 cell instead and youd still get that bonus of not dealing with that catless smell anymore lol

Nah hesitant to throw more money at it. I will go with the 400 cel cat (that i already own) as I know it sounds great. Just want to know how much power it will kill.

You will have to retune with Sameh. I have both downpipes you mentioned, although my DAW 5" dp has a 4" exit. Yours is 3.whatever" as it mates to the HKS exhaust.
I was tuned on the AA catted and switched to the DAW. It was messing with several parameters but mainly boost. Had to return to run more than 70% throttle.

just keep that in mind... you just can't throw it on there and expect your tune to remain dialed in.

Yes I was fully expecting a retune. Btw Sam is different from Sameh. Different men, both great tuners ?

After consulting with others locally, i have decided not to go catted as it will put stress on the turbo. Instead, i will ask Sam to update the exahust value settings for me, which will get me that deeper sound that i want and wont sacrifice performance at high load

Or if that doesnt scratch my itch, I will add a resonator to my HKS. Should be better than a cat.

200cell doesn't smell? what brand? I have read many threads on 200cell and catless being both equal in term of smell
I wouldn’t say they are equals but you can definitely smell a 200 cell cat. 300 you can smell every now and then and a 400 is pretty close to stock.

I could definitely smell it over stock on the 400cel cat. Catless is a lot of smell, you may get used to it but initially I couldn’t even stand behind the car for long if it was on. 200cel will be somewhere in between

Insane cop presence here during the night, waiting for the heat (pun intended) to die down before I start taking her out at night. It’s become such a pain honestly. Checkpoints everywhere, impounding modded cars, etc
