I like how it looks personally.

But unless they make this $100K or less MSRP (and it isn't dealer markup'd to shit) it's more than likely going to be a flop. If it's the $200K+ that a lot are speculating, who the hell is going to pay Lambo/Ferrari/McLaren money for a V8-Hybrid Toyota?

Same feelings…also no 6MT and not pure ICE.

Hopefully the next Supra will be just as flowing looking as the A90 with the option of a 6MT, coupled with an I6 with no hybrid assistance. The 2L version can get hybrid instead

Leaning the same way. Might be different in-person. A bit to rectangular / boxy. The LFA prototype has nicer lines IMO.

And the GT3 version deletes the hybrid system and battery pack altogether presumably to allow for a higher powered (and undoubtedly with higher boost pressure) and much more aggressive race tune of the V8.

GR GT Project Manager Takashi Doi said on record it will be priced like other "GT3" cars in the market.

Something else I took notice of in the Japanese reviewer's video above is that he states the bore and stroke of the 4.0L V8 twin turbo is the same as the bore and stroke found in the upcoming G20E 2.0L turbo engine that will power the GR Corolla, GR MR2 and other cars.

This is just my own stretch but... if Toyota has been willing to design that four cylinder and join two of them together to form their flagship supercar V8 they might just be willing to do the same thing by joining two of their three cylinder G16E's or two of the rumored 1.5L variants (which are supposed to at minimum power the Japan only or JDM & Europe only GR Starlet rally car) together to form a new inline six engine.

One hopes.

Toyota LOVES to amortize development costs all around and killing many birds with only a few stones seems to be what they have been doing with these new performance engines so far.

They're on a roll here and going for everything they can it seems so it wouldn't surprise me. And they did emphasize the 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE and 3S-GTE in the ending of the last episode of their promotional anime series.

It could happen but the 4-cylinder has enough output to make 400-600 hp. There are multiple models that could benefit from this power plant. I don’t see a use case for an inline 6 variant solely for the next gen Supra.

Which says a lot about the upper potential of the V8.

At bare minimum Toyota seems to want to use some inline six for the Supra MKVI and the next conventional Lexus coupe (which will share the same base chassis architecture in different wheelbases with different focuses).

But if they would be so inclined to do it they could also use a new I-6 in a sport sedan of some kind. They do have the lineage of the Mark II and Chaser they could bring back. I'm not sure if they actually would but I would be very surprised if there weren't already some people in the GR division who would jump at the chance to spearhead a new model like that.

The GR promotional anime series also did highlight a 90's Altezza RS200 (powered by a 3S-GE BEAMS dual vvt-i 2.0L naturally aspirated engine) so that's their other sport sedan possibility which is a bit smaller than the midsize and longer wheelbase JZX90/100/110 Mark II & Chaser 1JZ-GTE cars.

If they do a GR sport sedan I think they'd pick one type or the other. I doubt they would do both types of sport sedan revivals but at the rate they're going I'd love it if they did in addition to all the coupes.

But... getting a potential I-6 born from two G16E's (or 1.5L variants of them) into more than only two Toyota/Lexus/GR specialty cars (plus perhaps a Mazda but who knows) would certainly spread those R&D costs around more which the company likes to do.

Edit: Further... they have already pivoted any R&D on a Lexus IS RWD platform based "GR86" to the Mazda collaboration with the next Miata by investing in the Mazda ND platform to suit both cars... so I'd reason that whatever Toyota GR's R&D people accomplished up to that point with the Lexus IS platform architecture would be what they'd likely invest in more as needed to make whatever kind of other sedan model they might want from it. Again... if they even decide to do a GR sport sedan model at all be it G20E powered or I-6 powered.
