Nobody is returning my calls at the dealership and the sales consultant and finance person I spoke to at the dealership are not answering my calls, texts or voicemail,. I reached another sales consultant and was told that they were super busy with customers.
Are you far from the dealership? You can just show up and speak to the GM or their CSM.

If they're active on Yelp, leave a review. There's also a car dealership website you can leave a review on for the dealership and the salesman.

Yes. The dealership is at Ohio. I am a Vermont Resident. I am hoping to have the refund processed soon so I can be back on the hunt for the Supra.

Check their Team page on the dealership website, send an email to the GM and whoever the owner or higher up is listed, finance manager and cc your salesman 😆

Make sure to demand a specified date and time you expect to receive the refund, like by the end of business day. This would be your demand letter, and hopefully they'll recognize that since it's the first step in litigation.

They were so enthusiastic and calling me 10 times a day when I was purchasing the vehicle. Nobody has time for me now.

I'm sure you'll get your refund, they'll drag it out. But send that demand letter anyway.

Thats the typically Toyota dealership customer experience once they already have your money. Before they have your money, they'll cross the atlantic ocean to talk to you directly to sell acar.

Dealership is in no hurry to refund my bank's check, further delaying my hunt for an unmolested Supra.
That delay is just the universe protecting you from your own decisions. Gives you time to think about jumping ship to the ZF8 instead of hunting down another slow-edition.
Like you said, you're spending north of $60,000 on a sports car. Why pay a premium for a car that shifts worse than a 15 year old Honda s2000?
Brace yourselves everyone for the "Driver engagement - skill issue" circle jerks to start.

Disappointing story, OP, but thanks for sharing.

Why treat a customer this way? Doesn’t matter if it’s a Supra, a Ferrari, or a Kia.
Obviously because the guy that's treating the fleet like his personal rentals, the owner or manager, knows that fixing this is not his problem. He's not the one wasting his time to call up the next person in line, and it's not his Commission on the line. There's literally nothing stopping him.

Had similar experience when I bought mine from Roberts Toyota in Columbia TN. They were soooo helpful when they were wanting me to sign papers. After they got my deposit, it was like I didn't even exist to them. I paid to have mine delivered and they told me "We deliver cars all the time!" After weeks of going back and forth with the dealership, my car finally showed up almost 3 weeks later.. at 12:30 am.. on a Tuesday by a guy in sandal's that couldn't speak English. Hell, it wasn't even the shipping company the dealership told me it would be and to top things off, it showed up not show room condition like they advertised. Told me it had 8 miles, but ended up having 16 when it was delivered.

In the end, I made a post about them on BBB and I ended up getting $450 check from them for my car arriving dirty. I had to argue with them about that too. 🤦‍♂️ Dealerships are something else man.

Good luck, refund is going to be a painful slow process. Had to get a deposit back on a vehicle they said they could deliver but finally admitted they couldn't. Took weeks of nagging the finance and GM to finally get someone to cut a check about a month later

Cant wait for direct to consumer car buying.

Dealerships need to go away. The dealership model only works in countries like Japan where they have respect and honor.

They basically are disappearing. You can order your new car online these days and collect it from the dealer I assume. Thats only a few steps away from them being non existent. All a Toyota dealer does these days with a new car is fit the number plates, Which they can't even fit straight and in the centre of the plate recess 75% of the time, register it, give it a wash and ring you up to collect it. The rest is done at the Toyota distribution centre. The dealer also has the audacity to ask you to pay for the car 2 or 3 days in advance as well by direct transfer. There is no way while my ass points to the ground am I going to hand over any money to a dealer until I inspect the car upon delivery to me. That's when I pay them and not before.
I've even had a dealer get a bit miffed because as soon as they pull the stupid cover with the ridiculous bow on it I start walking around the car inspecting it for any defects and issues and not carrying on like an overly excited teenager with a new Iphone or something. So I check the car over and if satisfied I hand over the money. Old school and works every time.

At this point you are speaking to the wrong people about the refund.

Once you aren't actively involved in the purchase process, you aren't a priority for the sales department. Look on the dealerships website and see if they have an 'about us' or 'meet our staff' section.

You're going to want to reach out to dealership adminstration/management. Some of them have their email addresses present on the website, though not all do. If you can't find a direct email address for the GM or other high ranking member of management, look up the automotive group that owns the dealer. They typically have a corporate office.

I can't promise you, but I can say with a high degree of confidence that the sales guy that is no longer selling you a car has little to no sense of urgency at all of you getting your money back. They are already looking for the next sale on the next car.

When I canceled my deposit on a Lotus Emira, (1 year before they were available in the US) I received the $2500 within two days. That was a dealership that is 80 miles away, so I am glad they did it so quickly. Most likely, there were plenty of other reservists on the list.

When I did have an issue at the Supra dealership, I left a message with the Customer Service person. She called me back, quickly and took care of the problem. I since then brought my car to the closer dealership for the free oil/filter changes.
