ProClip here, using a somewhat custom combination of parts from them. I left some details in a different phone mount thread, but will repost here:

ProClip MagSafe Mount

I wanted to have the phone closer to the driver, near the emergency lights button. Also wanted to avoid having the vents blow directly on the phone, which this generally solves. By itself, the mount had the phone a bit high which caused it to block part of the infotainment screen. Was able to solve with a combination of hardware:

Supra Angled Mount
https://www.proclipusa.com/product/855595-angled-mount

MagSafe Mount (FYI if you have 12 Max you may need a different mount)
https://www.proclipusa.com/product/iphone-holder-for-magsafe-charger

Small Left/Right Extension Plate
https://www.proclipusa.com/product/215395-left-right-extension-plate

15 Degree Wedge
https://www.proclipusa.com/product/215964-15-degree-wedge

The wedge both helps angle the mount towards the driver and gives enough clearance for the extension plate to fit. Hard to reach a few of the radio preset buttons but I don't really use most of them.

Part of the reason I went for this setup is that with my current phone case it is kind of a pain to slide the phone in and out of the built-in charging tray area. Also, like being able to use Waze/Maps on the car screen and have music playlist / controls on the phone.
Thanks for posting that info in the other thread. I ended up following in your footsteps and put the exact same setup in mine

Am I the only one who uses the dedicated phone holder with wireless charging?

People complain about the little roof panel covering it, but the little cover can be removed by popping it upwards. Easier to get to the phone when needed.

Same here.

I had the ProClip on my BRZ, and while it made the dash a bit cluttered with the wire and holder it worked great as there was no dedicated tray or charging location in that cabin.

But in the Supra, I just either leave my phone in my pocket or in the charging tray - especially with wireless CarPlay.

I just use the tray wit the top removed. I did however cut some of the black grippy drawer rubbery stuff cut to size in the tray to keep the phone from slinging while in corners.

Went with the iOttie wireless charger holder. I like it. It’s 3 way adjustable to gives you flexibility on exactly where you want the phone to rest. Feels very secure mounted with the suction mount.

~ my favorite one!

it’s discrete in size, convenient placement (eye level) without being in the way and very functional.

I use magbak. Super clean only a simple small magnet on the bottom corner of the radio and phone stays in place even during spirited driving.

i use a proclip base with a quadlock mount on a ball swivel. its definitely secure, only downside is it requires their quadlock phone case to mount, also pricey. i also use the quadlock on my bicycle so it works for me.

My iPhone 12 gets too hot charging on the built in charger. A hot battery degrades very quickly over time. I drive a lot so it’s not practical for me to leave it on there for long periods. And if I put the phone on the tray above it then it will going flying off because I drive like an asshole.

I did for about a week and then noticed it made the phone raging hot every time I used it.
