More updates to the Supra build!!

Had my AMS DP sitting for a while now waiting for Ecutek to be available. I used to remote tune my cars with Zach from delicious tuning (Now moved to work with CSG) and was always happy with his work. It was a no brainier to get another tune from him since he already tuned several A90 Supras with one having pure turbo upgrades for track use with a positive feedback from the owner (NotSoJDM)

Once the remote tuning was available in EcuTek I installed the down pipe and started the remote tuning. Unfortunately our fuel quality and hot climate was a big challenge to get a decent amount of power from this setup, so I had to mix a bottle of BOOSTane with every tank.

After more than 40 revisions for 2 maps (95 RON & 95 RON BOOSTane mix) I took the car to the dyno to compare it to my friend's stock A90.

20200419_090521(0)-01.jpeg

Numbers are not representative since every dyno reads deferentially and my only goal was to compare the hp/tq % increases from stock.

ABDULLA WHP-TRQ 2.jpg

So basically 14.5% WHP/ 26.2% WTQ increase over stock with 95 RON fuel and 27.4% WHP/ 37.4% WTQ increase over stock with 95 RON + BOOSTane mix.

The torque is just insane and the car pulls so hard no matter what gear you are in now. Crazy how a simple mod transforms the car this much!! Very happy with the end result and it was truly worth the wait.

Next goal is stabilizing the IAT since its what killing all the gains as temperature keeps increasing. Will be going with Titan meth kit soon and upgraded heat exchanges once more options are available.

Darth,

Good results from the e-tune.

Regarding the stabilization of IAT. Your best bet is a Water/Methanol injection system. It helps dramatically. To the addition of lower IAT, you also get more power which is always a good thing.

I would highly recommend either a Fluidyne heat-exchanger (available) or the CSF Race Heat-exchanger (coming out soon),

Koyo radiators will help with coolant temps especially in warm climates where we live.

P.S. Speak with your tuner regarding the air fuel ratios. If am not mistaken. A slightly richer AFR number (WOT) will help.

Best of luck with the tuning bug that bitten many of us.

Stay Safe

Thanks for sharing

That stock car is making monster numbers BTW, highest I have seen by far.

Did you get the tune from Counterspacegarage?

If so, I like how their tune is focused for track use and consistency. Definitely better for our climate here

Thanks

My meth kit from Titan will be arriving soon. Just in time before the summer heat kicks in. Regarding the heat exchanger I was planing to go with Fluidyne but they are back ordered and I decided to wait a bit to see if more options will be available. Luckily enough, just one week later I found out about CSF and AMS heat exchangers coming soon!

Will spend the off season getting the car ready for track in terms of cooling. If it survived our summer it will survive anything.

Its the dyno not the car (look at baseline hp)

Bump for some Darth.

Well, I abandoned ship for several reasons. At the time there was no development/parts for the platform to support it on track. After many map revisions, the car continued to go into limp mode before completing one lap. Intake manifold was the bottle neck and at the time there was nothing available at the market. I decided to let her go and fund another build (Baja SxS) and come back when the aftermarket scene matured enough.

After the announcement of the MT 6 Speed option, I just could not resist and placed an order for black exterior with red interior mt option. Should arrive late June.

In the meantime, let me share what I was up to in the past three years.

Had the chance to test the Supra GT4 at Dubai Autodrome circuit in an open trackday!

Soon after we raced the 992 GT3 at 24H of Dubai and 6H of Abu Dhabi and finished 2nd in class in both races!

I'm more enthralled by the actual racing you do vs. the Supra build lol

Please post more about that if you can!

Moved to RE71 (stock sizing) and had more aggressive alignment. Finally the car handles as I want and its a joy to drive on the limit now.

Small touches for track duty

The car has a lot of potential and to see it go this fast with few simple mods (springs, pads, and tires) proves that. Before owning the car I imagined a sub 20 lab for the Supra would be hard and will take a long journey. Now I think sub 15 is possible on the long term since the ideal lap was 2:18.6 without traffic the same day. To put that in perspective this is the leaderboard for Losail lap times currently

20191206_155332.jpg

Things I hate with the Supra on track so far;
  • Electronics interference with traction (low tire pressure)
  • Not being able to fully disable stability control
  • Shift lever jumping from manual to auto under hard cornering
  • Small fuel tank
For the shift lever, my current solution is this
