AFAIK he is on timeout and will be back. How he got temp banned and I never have is a mystery.
But his build is what I wanted to do to my car! And your car too…

I normally stay away from car forums but I really liked the content @decodeddiesel and others post here. Therefore I joined the community to be able to PM some people here for advice including @decodeddiesel. Before I could message him he was banned. Of course I did not see the inappropriate comments, nor am I second guessing the moderators decision (yes I read the rules).

I will say that people like @decodeddiesel attract people like me; car enthusiast, engineer, and most importantly to the vendors here, I spend $10K+ a year on stuff they sell. I hope all parties involved can achieve a Win/Win outcome and we can get back to enjoying the content @decodeddiesel was providing.

Kind regards,
John

I ran out of PMU so I also have to now use CSG pads... that have been on my shelf for two years.
Nice….. I’m almost afraid to hear/get your take on them. I know & respect Rock’s opinion and yours. I’m pretty sure they can take a harder bite and deeper dive. Wonder if they are comparable rotor wear wise to your project mu’s and approximate track days you get out of both? Rough estimate ofc. I know tires, track temp & other conditions will vary results. My Hawk DTCs & rotors have held up very well for me and other Supra track guys down here in Florida temps. Hence I keep going back to em.

And welcome baaaaaccccckkkkkk @decodeddiesel ❤ No foul language young man - stick to offensive emojis or memes instead 😜

Hey everyone, I'm back.

The break gave me time to re-evaluate the amount of time I spend on this forum and why I'm here. I enjoy tracking my Supra and judging from what I've seen, people are interested in what I share. I'm here for the exchange of knowledge, nothing more. I debated returning or just moving on, and what I've read here makes me believe I should come back.

One plus of the break is I actually had time to play GT7 a little. I'm trying to get all Gold learning the segments of Spa in a 911 right now. I'm down to sub 2:10s consistently in a lightly modified '19 Supra on The Glen too. That said, I'm really hitting the limit of what I can do with a controller in straight AUTOMATIC. Need a good wheel with nice paddles/chair/pedals. Anyway...

Back to the important things!

First of all, I realized I haven't posted many glamour shots of my car, so here's some pics from an event back in June at one of my 2 home tracks, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson CT.

On 9/11/23 I had a chance to try the CSG 21/11 pad combo on my Supra at Lime Rock Park. Before the event I did a "street" bedding on my pads following CSGs guidelines as best I could without committing a felony. 😂 I then repeated the bedding on the track during my first session (TONS of traffic). I'll admit though that I got impatient and greedy and got into ABS once on entry to the Uphill during my second session trying to complete a pass. I may need to re-bed the pads in the future, but they seem like they're very well bedded and working great so, 🤷‍♂️.

So, about the performance...I honestly wish I could say that it's all hype and the CSGs aren't any better than the PMUs, but that's just not the case here lol.

The main thing I noticed is the improvement in pedal feel. I've installed a MC brace and stainless lines trying to chase that pedal feel, but never really got there. The CSG pads in concert with the previous mods gave me that pedal feel I was looking for. Maybe it's all in my head lol, but it is very confidence inspiring.

The other thing I noticed was the consistency during my 20–25-minute sessions. The pedal feel and "bite" (dynamic coefficient of friction, mu) feels extremely consistent. Not saying the PMUs really had any fade, they didn't, but the pedal feel definitely changes as the temperature increases after 20+ minutes of hot lapping. I didn't feel this with the CSGs.

All of this was validated with lap times. I was able to shave nearly 2 seconds off my PB at LRP.
I'm now in the 1:04s on stock struts and springs and Kuhmo 730 tires.*

The only real drawback I see so far is that they squeel something awful on the street at low temps. 🤣 IDGAF, but some people might.

Is 2 seconds worth $1000? My heart says yes, but my bank account says no. Time will tell!

*After reading and editing the previous post I wanted to add the caveat that I am an Intermediate driver. I only have 16 track events in the Supra so I'm still getting better, and 3 days of the PMUs were when I was in the Novice run group. Novice brake use with the all of the nannies still on puts a lot more heat into the pads compared to how I drive now.

typical feedback on the CSGs :)
Glad you are back. I stay off politics (mostly) on these social boards and use them for whatever car knowledge, I am on boating boards too....

Wow John, that's very gracious of you to say. Thank you, and cheers!
