Am i the only one who doesn't care if people don't use the search function? Like, just move on guys if it's a repeat question, or answer if you're feeling helpful. And cluttering up the forums is not a good excuse to be annoyed by something that really shouldn't annoy you, it's not like forums these days get lots of traction to begin with.

Edit: the search function kinds sucks too.
Kind of rule 2 of the forum.

I get it, and i do try to search myself. Don't think i've ever been called out about that. I just think that it's pointeless to get annoyed just because someone asked a question that was already answered in another thread. just ignore it. It's not worth getting irked over that.

It's not just about the search function on the forum. It's the ability to research and learn on there own from any source. It's fine to ask a stupid question... But they do have an expiration date. Also the Google search function is way better than forums search.

The paranoid IT guy in me thinks the heavy influx of simplistic "the answer is there if you search and read" questions is because they are bot users. I'm sure it is probably the "2nd generation of owners now that the car is a little more affordable" phenomenon.

This is happening on 2 other forums I frequent. One is like here...some snippiness, but generally people just answer. The other is absolutely brutal. The OP gets roasted relentlessly and usually goes away.

You know what, you are 100% right; but as Clooney so aptly put it recently, "We are living in a time of cruelty."

I've driven many sportscars over the last 6 years, most being much more expensive than my Supra. Yet this one seems to get even more attention than the McLaren 570S I rented. The Supra gets FAR more attention than the 911 4S and the 2022 C8. Maybe this is because the average annual build for GR Supras was only 4000 or so. (2024 numbers were sub-2500)
But I think one of the main reasons young people love it is its cost. It is sort of a common man's (or woman's) hero that is also very rare. When I visited family in CT for a week, I did not see one Supra, yet it seems like everyone knows what they are. I went to a Porsche cars & coffee event in Carlsbad, CA at a dealership, where there were hundreds of 911s. Just to see their reactions, I drove my car into the dealership parking lot (on a curved section that passed by the dealership's massive front windows) as a friend videoed Porsche lovers' expressions. Good times with the Supra!

Based in malaysia, where this is a 300k (USD75k) car, while a 911 is around USD150-250k.

Honestly, it gets way more attention than a porsche, and most people think its a supercar when its not.

Love it so far, seems very reliable, i cant help but smile looking at it.

But i do kind of dislike who long the hood is and how wide the car is, which makes it harder to daily and park. But it does make it look really good and handle better. So...

I was visiting Malaysia last month and saw a few Supras in KL. Ngl though, I found it more interesting spotting hot hatches we don't get in the USA like the VW Scirocco and the Renault Megane RS.

You'll get used to it. I annihilated a front side lip on a parking block the first week I had the car and the first month I almost got blown up making left turns because I couldn't see shit but now I am fully used to the car and can basically Jackie Chan it now...

It exceeded the expectation. It can be serious if you want to tackle the mountains or slap some camber plates, pads and tires on gives many much more expensive sportscars a hard time on the track. At the same time, it can be civil on the streets and has everything you need, and still has buttons. You can be casual and slide with ease if you drive it right, unlike a 911 which will drift but every drift is a full committment with no chill. Quality has generally been good, majority of the supras out there has full metal oil pumps these days and thats really only the main thing. ECU unlock has become easier, parts are not particularly expensive... The list goes on. I would say that, the Supra is an excellent car for drivers with good self control and experience, that's why a lot of the journalists don't like it, they don't know how to drive. If the next Supra is not 6 cylinders, MK5 will be remembered even better down the road. And did I mention the overall amazing fuel consumption for what it is?

If my Supra was a daily driver she would do so well. My parking at work is super empty so opening my door all the way to get in/out would not be a problem, and hell, I can park sideways across 3 spots if I wanted to get towed

I'm too poor to afford a nicer sports car so too bad. Maybe in my next life I can get a Ferrari and go all out... park that car sideways to get towed.. :headbang:

You can always rent one every now and then. That's what I did to avoid having a giant car payment.

Yeah i bought mine from someone who had installed a varis front lip and side skirts.

Basically destroyed the front lip the first 2 days, and scrapped the side skirts at a gantry last week when i was distracted.

Thankfully, chinese carbon fibre replacements are cheap haha.

But slowly getting used to it. Cant wait to bring it to a track.
