Well, it depends. Most? No. Most are 2L I4 turbo with light mods pushing maybe 300 wheel. There's a smaller number of 3.8L V6 in circulation that might push 350 wheel naturally aspirated. They're quick enough to be fun, but not likeky going to beat a Supra.

But there are big turbo I4 and V6 builds out there, and they are WAY more capable than most people think. My own v6 is pushing 525 wheel and I'm maxed out on GDI fuel flow with an e30 tune. There's a class of built Gens pushing 600 and 700 wheel. By this time next year, there will be some new mods available unleashing bulletproof 1000whp builds on the V6.

So while most Gens are just "fun fast," there are some very spicy ones out there and everyone underestimates the Hyundai.

Generally speaking: if the driver is in their 20s, probably a slow Gen. If the driver is in their 30s or 40s, beware.

I was cruising the other day and had a Challenger want to rev etc. He passed me. I thought about it. When I saw him almost rear end someone and jumped lanes while almost clipping a second car with his rear I changed my mind. Figured I wouldn't want to play around with him because he seemed a little too careless and reckless.
THIS. I've never seen more reckless nonsense in my life than how these Mopar guys drive. It's a miracle that a two-ton boat can change lanes that fast, and it makes me glad I gave up my Challenger Scat-Pack hunting to buy a Supra instead. It's like having a Tesla, the car might be okay, but I couldn't sleep knowing I was associated with that owner group.

Had no idea. I would have totally underestimated one for sure. The Hyundai badge just doesn't scream fast generally ... not that Toyota does either I guess? :oops:

I had a 3.8 Track BK1. Did the turbokits.com kit on stock motor. Probably made 400whp on 6psi 91oct. Only made 285whp before turbo on 91oct FBO.

@DrSeuss has a big build in the works. 4.3L TT R-Spec BK1.

They move the same as the Z's and G's.

Yesterday it was the Genesis coupe. 2 of them, one on the way to work and one on the way home. No idea if they are quick or not?
I can tell you a Genesis Coupe is "quick" for what it is, if it's a 3.8 and if it's been tuned. That's the platform I came from before buying my Supra. Comparing a stock 3.8L BK2 Genesis Coupe to a stock Supra however would result in me just saying "Hell no it's slow as balls". There are some really quick ones out there though but they are the ones that have quite a bit of extensive engine work and/or Turbo kits.

This is my old Genesis Coupe before I traded for my Supra. Some times I miss the platform and wish I could have afforded both the Genesis and Supra. They are very undervalued cars because they carry the Hyundai badging and it's really a great platform overall. I loved the cars so much that I traded my BK1 for my BK2 when they released the BK2 in 2013.

There is too much traffic in my area to even make an attempt to race. However, there are lots of twisty roads. I had some guy in a Charger think he could keep up with me through the turns. Ya that lasted about 1 turn then I couldnt even see him.

That's cool! Here's my my build. Running 10 PSI on a 72mm ceramic BB turbo from On3 Performance, stock block tuned with E30. I could probably get more out of the block at this point, but I just can't get any more fuel and I don't want to rely on methanol. So I'm just chilling here until port injection is ready for the Gen and then I'm gonna go bigger.

Anyone who drives a car that even LOOKS fast will have people egging them on to do a highway pull or a stoplight drag race. Happens every single day where I live. I mostly just ignore them.

I contemplated going the turbo kit route on my 3.8 so many times... I wish I would have. Around the time I got rid of mine was when the Remnant kit became a thing and I've heard great things. Maybe I can return to the Genesis platform before to long.

Back then no one had a clue what it was, and because of that I messed with people even more with this badge.

Mine was a little simpler. That "NA is best sticker" though, oh the irony, never had imagined I'd afford to buy a turbo for that car.

That's dope. My BK1 was Tsukuba red and man I loved that car. I actually ended up liking it more than my BK2 because I had put so much sweat and blood into that car before I traded it. It's funny, never did I expect to get into a conversation where I would be reminiscing on the Genesis Coupe on the Supra forums!
