Ended up installing a BFI Alcantara shift boot to match my Alcantara interior. Stayed with the silver stitching to match the rest of the car.

Where did you get the boot from?

Update, been a while now with the billetworkz knob. I’ve grown used to the throws which are definitely easier and makes reverse much nicer to use. Albeit the feel is nearly completely muted so take that for how it is. Sometimes feels like I’m shifting a bowl or churned butter. Granted I think that’s more just bmw by design.. oh and the top of the knob gets cold as fuck in the winter. I don’t look forward to summer!

Found that any shift knobs that have a 3/4-16" thread will fit the Raceseng non-threaded adapter like the ones at overthetopperformance.com:

https://www.overthetopperformance.com/Omega-Shift-Knob_p_279.html
https://www.overthetopperformance.com/Sphere-Shift-Knob_p_20.html
https://www.overthetopperformance.com/Apex-Shift-Knob_p_27.html
https://www.overthetopperformance.com/Cylinder-Shift-Knob_p_33.html

Really liking the textured, wrinkle finish. Doesn't seem to get as cold or hot as bare metal shift knobs. Also discovered that a 480 gram weighted shift knob feels a lot better than a 635 gram knob. More mechanical feeling and not as mushy. Also less chance of accidentally shifting into reverse when trying to slam it into first quickly.

I ordered the billetworkz fusion in leather matte black with 6 speed pattern. I’ll let y’all know how install goes and how it looks. No ETA on delivery yet but hopefully not too long.

Hey sorry to revive an old thread but im looking into getting this shift knob but im a little confused. Did you get the BMW fusion shift knob or the VW one? Did it come with the threadless adapter, and do I need the VW boot retainer as well? Thanks.

Hey no problem at all. Had to did up my stuff but yes I got bmw fitment with a vw style boot retainer. Be known the knob will sit up a bit higher than stock on the rod. Makes the shifts a bit vague I found. It’s significantly heavier than stock. I after a few months went back to a stock knob and just improved the shifter feel by getting an aftermarket shifter assembly from autosolutions.

I'm not sure I'd get a shop to replace a shift knob. It's pretty easy on the Supra and there's some great information on this forum about exactly how to do it. Also, don't forget that there's nobody who cares about getting it right as much as the person who is going to be using that shift know. And if that weren't enough to convince you, if I can do it, pretty much anybody can. 😂

Do you recall the cost or a guess on hours? Did they explain the process at all, did you stick around and wait for the work to be done or drop it off?
Had a shop do mine, was told you have to take off the exhaust to install. So I had the shifter install done with exhaust, and was charged an additional hour.

Not sure anyone would. FYI the subject currently at hand is the entire assembly, stick, etc. from under the car.
