Never underestimate the power of stupid. I brought my Supra in for an oil change and they nearly put the wrong type and wrong amount of oil in it. Turns out that even though I scheduled service for my Supra they pulled oil for a Tacoma I bought from them 8 years ago. I only caught it because when I got there they mentioned a differential recall. I was curious about that so I looked over the worksheet and saw it was for a Taco.

When I took my Sierra to the GMC dealership to get an oil change they left off the radiator cap during their 50-point inspection. I made it halfway home before my truck started running warm and I noticed a coolant smell. Shit spilled out all over my engine and they had to send a tech out with some coolant and take my truck back for cleaning.

Sometimes talking to the service manager is a good call. There’s no need to be a prick, but some constructive pressure isn’t bad.

Appreciate all the input. I guess I'm a little over concerned. I'll jut take it in, and go from there. If they mess up, it's on them.
It's ok to be nervous, we're all just busting your balls (I think-- I can't speak for everyone). It'll be alright.

I agree with others here but I’m also of the sentiment that if you want something done right do it yourself. Sometimes you can’t even trust the most simple task to a person if it just requires some googling. That being said just see what happens and check over the car after they do it. I know I’m paranoid about torque specs ?‍?

I took my Civic Type-R to the dealer (reluctantly) to perform a fuel pump recall and I kinda know the service advisors so made sure they had a master tech doing the job. Actually got to speak with the tech beforehand, and as respectfully as possibly mentioned that I read posts from other Honda techs saying it was very easy to break the fuel sending unit so watch out for that. Guess what he broke? ?‍♂

I would be more worried about joy rides and damage to the exterior.

Everyone says only Supra techs are allowed to touch the cars until you see the lot attendants taking selfies in one for their Snapchat.

All I do is take my stuff to the dealer and if there is something wrong that happened, I ask the customer reps to make good on it.

Other than that, I give them the keys and peace out to enjoy the latest episode on the Brazzers network.

I bring mine to BMW. Everything has been great so far. It’s the same price as at Toyota and I like the familiarity all the techs have with the car and software. While it’s one of the most expensive Toyotas, it’s barely even a mid range BMW so I’m not too concerned about someone beating on it or joy riding. Just a better overall experience for me but this could just be unique to the dealerships that are nearby.

I’ve also had some bad experiences with Toyota techs, as in they forgot some lug nuts and broke some wheel studs bad. I didn’t realize until I got home, got out and kicked a lug that had just fallen off across my garage. I guess my fault for not inspecting everything before driving home. This was on an 86, and I get that shit happens, but don’t send the car out like that. Fix it quietly or at least let me know you broke it but it’s fixed now.

If you can’t do it well yourself, there’s nothing wrong with shopping around for a place you like. Maybe it’s a small private shop, maybe it’s a huge Toyota dealership.

if the dealer has had a few Supras in by now, oil change should be cake. But shit happens, and sadly, does happen at all dealers. Toyota, bmw , etc. But fact is, Toyota mechanics are simply not as experienced with this bmyota, versus a bmw technician. So service recovery is key, cos you never know when someone will f up regardless of how careful you are. At least with an authorised dealer, you should have recourse.
