Yup, warped rotors are insanely rare yet always seems to come up on the internet. 99% of the time it’s pad deposits.

I would be willing to bet these pads aren’t being bed in properly. A couple hard stops is not enough.

I’ve never had rotors turned in my life. Waste of money.

I had posted this previously but here is the heat paint product. You can see that it is beige which is the highest range. I do not advocate drilled rotors but I had these on hand and cracked my other ones so put on to use I have bike brake 15” rotors 6 piston front and 14” 4 piston rear. and calipers as well so have gone back and forth and am still working on getting a custom made kit that can handle the heat. At least I hope. Once I get I can update everyone.

I did about 15 60mph to 10mph stops. Pretty much until they started smelling bad. Then drove around for about 10 min never coming to a complete stop.

pretty sure warped rotors are just a forum myth.

uneven pad transfer’s easily removed through street driving with more aggressive race pads. if you didn’t let the rotors come down to ambient temp after bedding in, when you park the car you’d end up with material smear

try this for McPherson arms, from 997 rs
Spot on brother! Warped is the wrong term for sure. Love Centric rotors and great link to the real causes. I’ll be the 1st to admit I’m no mechanic or engineer. I should have tried a low grit sand paper. Maybe it was deposit. I definitely had shudder bAAd. And definitely could have been a bed in issue in my case.

So what’s the solve?: bedding in properly, sticking to the same pads (if rotors not changed?), and have my sensors clipped ?. That last one likely has nothing to do with it, but… I’ve never had this happen in any other car and now the sensors are gone. So I’m throwing that in there as a possibility ?‍♂ (and stir the pot ?). Also if in doubt, we can buy new rotors now really cheap!

I get the point if it hasn’t happened to you (meaning anyone on here), then the 3 of us that mentioned it really screwed up. I’m hoping that’s true in my case. With @Evolution , makes me wonder If the Supra is just more prone/sensitive to this issue than my previous track cars. In my case it was a different brand pad on the same rotor. Wonder if that was the case for them too? Appreciate those guys mentioning it on here and everyones help with the issue ✊?.

I’ll save my rotors next time, if this happens again, and inspect them better for the cause.

New friend with a Supra at my home track. He normally brings a Blue GT3 but wants to track his Supra more- consumables.
Anyway... His wife drove the Supra to a couple lead follow track things and his first time with it on the track he had the shudder.
He immediately wanted to replace rotors. I talked him out of it. She set the pad material with above street driving but not real track speed and no real bed in. He is a good solo driver and we ended up rebedding them in- problem solved.

Does Toyota still offer a free track day via NASA if you purchase a new supra? I picked up a new ‘22 in October and never received anything from Toyota.
Yes they do. I picked up my 2023 in February and they sent me an email about 2 weeks later about my free track day/NASA membership. You only have a year to do it from the purchase date of your car, so you may want to look into it sooner rather than later.

if you had old compound on the rotor, it could have caused improper bed in. not all compounds are compatible, gloc has some literature on that.

Explains why a good friend had me use low grit sandpaper on my RX8 rotors between pad changes long long ago. Makes sense. Thanks dude! And Rock’s explanation as well. I’ll definitely do that next time and bed the shit out of them ❤‍?

Finally joined the cracked windshield club. Which is fine because the windshield itself is pitted to hell, time for a new one, just hope safelite here doesn't suck.

I never heard this happen but I imagine it was a small chip from my track day this weekend or drive home. It was not like this on the way home, I came out to the car this morning and saw it. The temp change in the garage over night must have made it start cracking.

It's probably already been said:
1. Closely follow the pad manufacturer's instructions for bedding. They all differ.
2. Do not swap from street to race pads without clearing old deposits off. There is a likelihood of leftover deposits mixing with the new pads. Maybe not, but not worth the risk (Some pads, such as Carbotech, can be swapped since they are in the same family. Check manufacturers instructions.)
3. Until your brakes have time to cool down, after your session: Chock your wheels When parking. Try to limit the amount of time your car is stopped with the brakes applied (like.... To none). Do not use the e-brake If it is the type that has pads which contact the brake rotor.

Doing those three things has kept me from ever having brake shudder issues.

Good luck!

Dang you did her good son! That’s some mega flex crack right there. You must be hauling ass on track ? This is my 3rd windshield and reminds me to bug my PPF guy who wants to try a solution he and a UV manufacturer came up with. I’ll let y’all know how it turns out.

So spot on brother. Funny how you can take off a few years and forget the basics. Great suggestions!

I just got my first chip on my way home from Maine on Monday on 95. Asshats leaving piles of gravel in the middle of the interstate. My chip is not yet a crack so hopefully I can put off replacement until the end of the Summer.

Why not fix the chip before it turns into a crack?
