It looks like there is a fair chance of rain or even some thunderstorms for my track day at Barber. I know they won't let us on track if there is lightning anywhere in the area and that's fine. But what about if it's just raining and the track is good and wet? Does NASA let tract day drivers out in the wet?
You’ll have fun either way (minus lightning and track shutdown). Enjoy!! ?

Learned this weekend that 22psi is definitely too much for the stock turbo especially in upper 80s ambient temps. I saw 243F coolant, 296F oil, and 148F IATs, even with the Verus oil cooler and a Wagner manifold.

After setting a boost max of 19 psi in BM3, temps dropped 10+ degrees on both coolant and oil and IATs stayed under 140, and the car was actually 1.5mph faster on the straight at Mid Ohio vs the higher boost map.

Picking up a spare hood in a couple of weeks to add louvers and hopefully that helps to bring temps down even further.
Damn that’s a lotta boost. Good luck, even with a Wagner.

Saw a street A91 (nice track prepped one) with Aerocatch latches on the hood. Not sure why… is it cosmetic?, was the hood a custom one?, or is someone suggesting a track car should have them for a security reason I don’t know?

The less brain power you commit to this thought, the better. Aerolatches are a good security on lighter hoods.

Not my video, but this has summed up my experience for the past 15 years with these aqful goddamned things. The issue is that the mechanism's geometry causes the connecting rod to toggle into a binding position, that you need to poke at the pin with a screwdriver to toggle it back.

I would have hoped that one of the knockoff branda would have figured this out and fix the geometry now, but according to the PA Facebook group, no such luck. Between that, the plastic getting brittle over time (even on the genuine ones), and the fact that you have to cut two giant holes in your hood meaning that you are stuck in the aerocatch ecosystem. These pieces of shit bring my piss to a boil.

yep. That’s exactly what it looked like but in Yellow. I think the idea was more for the looks than anything else. Which is totally ok.

Yeah, piling on, but I'm not a fan of aerocatch hood pins. having them on 1 car was enough to swear them off for life. They deteriorate and you can never get them closed with out a lot of fiddling around. Mine didn't fail, but I would not recommend them. If you're truly in a place to get rid of the hood latch mechanism and require pins of some sort, this is not the droid you're looking for. I use plain old chrome cheapies from Summit on my Mustang.

Looking to do some preventative maintenance for my 2022 Supra 3.0. After 27 track days of HPDE with NASA, HOD, and Chin, I want to do whatever I can to be proactive and stay ahead of known problem areas. I am currently changing engine oil, tires, brake pads, rotors, and fluid regularly. Yearly I am having the diff fluid changed and the trans every 1-2 years. Currently have installed braided brake lines, CSF heat exchanger (because the old one was punctured by debris), Verus oil cooler, Verus turbo heat shield, Verus diff scoop, and other various suspension mods such as lowering springs, SPL lower control arms, and Cusco sway bars. Based off all of your experiences, what would you recommend I look into for long-term preventative maintenance? Thanks!

You already sound on top of it! The wheel bearings can be a weak point. I changed my front ones out as they were audibly clicking when the car was on jacks and I'd free spin the wheels. Mine started making that noise well before the amount of events you've said you've completed. The rears still seem fine after 25ish track days and 40-50 autox.
