For a 2023 6MT car, what options are there for hitting 500whp? I've seen forum posts saying that a JB4 and a tune by Jesse can get there, but with what modifications? I'm aware that a Femto unlock is another route that many would suggest as well, and I'm keeping that open as a possible route to take.

Is 500whp do-able with bolt on's (stock turbo) and a tune on 93 octane with a 23' 6MT car?

Definitely do able with femto or unlock or a tune from @Jesse DaBears. you are looking at methanol, exhaust, down pipe, intake, charge pipe (for safety, you don't want the plastic one breaking on you). Those are the basics that you can get that will get you to 500whp you can also do flex fuel and ethanol if thats your taste as well. Other mods for a better quality of life include heat exchangers, radiators, possibly a intake manifold, but its expensive, better ignition coils, but not as necessary. All of these modes should get you in the ballpark of 500whp on a stock turbo.

I guess I'm somewhat surprised. Obviously this isn't an MKIV/2J and I didn't walk into this car expecting that to be the case with chasing power.

I did figure with it being 382~ rated at the crank that puts out roughly 388~ at the wheels for a 2021+ car, that it would be easier to reach 500whp than it actually is.

I'm new to the MKV, but not new to cars in general. If it takes a full intake, full exhaust, charge pipe, and methanol injection, that seems like a lot for 111 whp. Logically I would think there is one main reason for this: The car is already about as well tuned as it can be from the factory, which obviously necessitates the parts mentioned above/below.

What is the weak link here? Is it mainly the factory turbocharger?

And would methanol be an absolute requirement? I wouldn't object to it, but I'm attempting to see if this journey to 500whp in my car would be doable with full intake and exhaust on a JB4 tune or an unlock with 93 octane.

500hp - jb4, downpipe, meth, e40.

you don’t need an intake, you don’t need an exhaust, you only need a chargepipe because of the fact you need a methanol bung.

There’s no need to change ignition coils. All of the cars with 1000+ hp use factory coils. Intake manifold… sure. I recommend that for any car, even stock, to avoid heat soak after back-to-back pulls. No one upgrades the head exchangers at 1000+ Hp.

Downpipe is a big restriction, direction injection is a big restriction, and the little baby turbo is a restriction.

From what folks have seen so far - you might need to put a new clutch in the car too ;)

Just throwing this out there. I have a 2020 tuned with an ECUTEK on a dyno tune and it's making 420HP/500ft*lbs at the wheels with literally zero mods.

Just adding a flex fuel kit and an E50 tune will likely get you to right about 500, maybe just under.

My next power mods way down the road are an upgraded intake manifold, GESI catted downpipe, and a turbo upgrade. I'm going to be using this on track for HPDE/Time Attack. This will get me well into the 500-550 WHP range. I'm not interested in ethanol because it's simply not available to me. I'm also not interested in methanol because babysitting a tank is a PITA and it's not something I want to deal with on a track day.

Exhaust, charge pipe, intake, blah, blah, blah is optional.

Don't you need more fuel for this and the HPFP is at its limit? That's why the suggestions for meth come in because you're running way lean. The non meth option then is a LPFP, port injection on the intake, and dump in some gas.

Not at 500whp, no. Downpipe, E50, and a tune is all it takes (or meth instead of the E50). Above 500whp on E50 and you’ll start to run into fueling restrictions.

catless downpipe
intake, if you want
bench unlock, bm3, custom E50 tune by sameh. done.
for 93 oct, you're looking at lower 400s, BUT your tq levels should be nearing 500.. i think :)

do you think an intake manifold upgrade is really necessary for a "street" setup?

93 Oct., tune only, no mods, not the final numbers...

Needed.. no. Helpful on all cars? Yes. If I bought another supra for a daily type application, I'd slap a manifold on it first before anything else.

Hpfp won’t be needed for 500hp

We'll see how well my tune holds up over the summer with track days in the high 90s. I'm worried that IATs are going to be a problem. A downpipe will help, and manifold would completely eliminate the concern.
