Looking through past purchases. I think it's dependent on region too.

Last coverage I bought through Lockton was using Nova Casualty Company as the provider
Back in 2016, in California, Lockton used AIX Speciality Insurance for the provider
Looking at my old Hagerty receipts, you are right, they use RLI

OpenTrack have used Texas Insurance Company and Evanston Insurance Company as providers
OnTrack uses Jacob J Katz and Company as the agent but they do not disclose the provider.

I've been using OpenTrack more and more. I was going to do an annual plan this year as it would have saved me $$$ last year but I probably won't do as many events this year. Doing the math, it wouldn't have saved me anything.

Last year I spent $5,700 on track insurance.
I figured I would need to do at least 12 events to break even with a 12-month Opentrack policy.

$5700...shite. Yeah, I don't do enough events to justify the OpenTrack deal. I sure as h3ll am not insuring my LeMons foxbody. I'll turn more laps in that than I will in Supra.

Yea it adds up, hence me deciding to do less events this year, lol.

but if you want open passing on HPDE4, how does it different from running with TT?
NASA doesn't allow car outside of TT to open pass can pass anywhere on the track at that level but still need the point.

Depends on organization. very few with true open passing. Usually test and tune events for the real racers. I just did one with Summit Point owner's club. It was basically open pass- they would like a point and i believe that it is smart and safer with a point. But some of the retired guys in their sweet vintage Porshces by the time they look back and go to point I am by them already.

as long as you have TT license approved by NASA, doesn't matter if you are "outsider".
I may misunderstand you bud?
Are you saying NASA does allow a TT lic holder to open pass?
or that they should?

Not here in Mid Atlantic anyway.
should they? on fence. I take a big risk open passing on my balls out TT laps. I am fine with point by requirement even the advanced groups unless i have run with the group a LOT. I have friends that move down in groups because of intensity. I want to be 99% sure what you are going to do offline

There are advanced groups like CHIN with cup cars where they are lapping 1:55s at VIR and super intense and can it be intimidating. there are guys with 300k cup cars spinning and laughing about it down the hog pen last time i was there. MAde me look pokey

Just got notification that my mobile installer from Tire Rack is installing my Kuhmo 730s on my Titan-7s now. ?

ETA: $120, 40 minutes, done in my driveway with my wheel weights. I'm never going to another tire shop again.

I get to play with the cup cars at Lime Rock on occasion. They come out on the rare non sound restricted days. I always make sure to check my mirrors more often those days. ;) I actually have two unrestricted days with HOD coming up in June. 4 hours of open hot track each day. I did one day like this last year and it pretty much ruined me for other track days.

The non sound restricted days at Lime Rock bring out some heavy machinery. It is Connecticut after all.

Brutal.
I ended up in 3rd place at my last event because my group had an old dude, in a Miata, who refused to do over 75mph and would proudly announce he was only going to point by at three, specific spots on the track. That's great unless you're 8th in line behind him and have to wait until his second or third point by. Then you catch him again within a few laps.
I decided, then, to only do open passing unless there were no other options.
Oof, yeah this is brutal. Even worse because this wasn't even a first-timer who you could somewhat excuse for still learning the ropes.
