Howdy yall.

So after installing my coilovers, i was rubbing quite badly in the rear (19x11 +35 with 305/30-19 Michelin 4S). Heres the sequence of events I went through:
  • I bought the SPL rear upper camber arms, thinking i could dial in more camber.
  • Then I bought the toe arms and traction arms thinking that if I was going to do one set of arms, I should do them all.
  • Then I found out I had to drop the rear subframe to do the camber arms, so I bought a cusco rear sway bar since that has to be done while the subframe is down.
  • Then I bought the Cusco front sway, so I would have even sway bar upgrades front and back.
  • At this point I have the full SPL rear set, plus cusco front and rear sways.
  • I swapped from 305 to 295 rears 2 weeks ago and no longer rub.
Im trying to decide now if its worth it to install these parts, considering the difficulty. For reference, my Supra is a weekend fun car and will see 3-4 track days a year (not chasing times by any means, just having fun).

Do I install all this stuff, or sell it all and get other things for my build?

Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!!

I got SPL front LCAs and an aFe adjustable swaybar kit to go with my coilovers. It's getting aligned tomorrow, but early impressions when driving the car back home (mostly highway with a little bit on the street) are that the car is sharper on turns and felt more planted.

How bad was the rear sway install? Looks like i have to drop the exhaust, all the underbody panels, and then the subframe.

I had a shop do it -- it was the most labor intensive part. I was quoted 5 hours of labor for it but it could easily be more for a DIY.

Let's put it this way: if I'm ever selling the car and parting out as much as possible, the buyer is getting the car with the aFe rear sway bar. It's not worth the effort to reinstall the stock one.

I did the rear sway bar with my friends, its extensive but I think its doable if you have all the torque specs and someone to help you. We arent the best mechanics so we took around a full day

I'll give you $500 for all the parts if you don't install them. ;)
Im not sure about 500 but if you want everything im sure we can work something out...

My mechanic did it as well. I absolutely love the feel and will eventually track less like you @DarkZupra . But it feels so damn good I’ve been tracking more ?

Edit: I realize this is an old thread but was looking for your build page and found this ?

@FLtrackdays - I'm thinking of having my local shop do the rear bar as well but it sounds like they haven't done one in the a90 yet. I thought I read somewhere about a couple single use bolts on the rear subframe. Did your mechanic mention anything like this or run into any issues during reinstall? I haven't heard of anything like this before but this is my first BMW :)

@DarkZupra You never specified where you are rubbing. Also, what camber are you running? Lastly, how low is your car? I run RT660s which run wide in their 315 wide flavor and mine dont rub anywhere.

I would absolutely advise you to acquire every nut and bolt on that list. Several of them are 'prevailing torque' style and can't be trusted to provide the same level of tension the second time around.
