Is it just me or are the numbers not adding up here to others as well. Even given the underestimated power rating of BMW motors, a rated 335 HP BMW engine (even Rear wheel horsepower) should not propel a 3400 lb car to 60 in 4 seconds, and a 7:40 Nurburgring lap. Either Toyota is not providing the true HP number, or wildly exagerating performance figures. I'd er on the side of not providing true HP numbers. This is believable, as the Japanese have a history of this, and it's easy to imagine an agreement between BMW and Toyota, whereby Toyota can tinker with the power of the engine to produce a performance level they need, but cannot quote higher HP values than a given BMW engine (335). This would make more sense as performance is much easier to quantify than HP, and will be the first thing the journalists verify.

Aside from missing half the interior, possibly Lexan windows, lightweight racing seats and wheels, slicks, and race pads... Sure, mostly stock

My dude... I will not be shook if someone dyno this and got +380hps.... I truly believe Toyota threw BMW under the bus and make a better overall car. Toyota has always been humble about their product, under-promise and over-deliver is kind of their thing.

    By Sport Auto you mean?

Standard LFA was reportedly capable of low 7:20s laps, while we've seen the N-Ring edition do 7:14. I'd be well and truly shocked if Sport Auto could pull a 7:38 in a showroom stock MkV. Honestly I'd be impressed if they break the 7:50 mark. If they do that, I would fully expect that a Toyota Time attack could truly break 7:40.

true, thats what i was thinking, but also a roll cage and probably a fire suppression system.

and how bad would the speed limiter be in the last straight? as in like how many seconds approx?

I'll go and say it cuts off about 3 seconds because despite it being able to reach higher speeds, the braking entry would be coming a lot sooner. That's just my guess

If stock is capable of low 7:4x thats faster than a 718S and on par with Cayman 981 GT4, and that is not slow at all. Imagine lighter, unlimited 400hp GRMN version on CUP2r... That sounds like high twenties car/low 30's :O And thats kinda insane considering Ferrari 458 and pre-lci 991 GT3RS did 7:28...

Come on guys, a $36K Civic Type R at 306 hp was able to do around 7:40.

Hm, I kind of doubt they did it on cup tires or anything. If they were doing laps over and over like they usually do I would assume it would be on the more saleable PS4’s

The Supra and Z4 use a Pilot Super Sport actually, but its a specially designed compound for the Zupras. That's likely the tire they've been using in all the tests.
