It's just such a poor choice on Toyota's part that its infuriating and the biased stupid reasons people give for these sorts of schoolboy errors boggles the mind.

If it's not a design fault then it's a design choice.. which is infinitely worse. How can anyone defend this idiocy is beyond me. Next you're going to tell me the omission of a boot release button isn't a fault but a clever spartan race car feature. Give me a break.

All cars have questionable design choices but the Supra is riddled with particularly unintuitive, lazy and quite frankly, stupid ones.
The interior is last gen bmw so did you call the whambulance back then too?

Also, there is a trunk release button, you just won’t like where it is.

Saabs with the keyhole on the center console instead of the steering column must really melt your brain.

I skimmed that to see Supra, Toyota/BMW, even auto industry, didn’t see it mentioned. I’m not diving down your rabbit hole of trying to tie TV sales to the manual Supra development and sale. As I said, enjoy your own reality and I’ll be over here living in mine.
All good. It's one of many examples of how Japenese corporations plan in decades not years and they certainly don't react to enthusiasts wet dreams.. but keep believing.. that GRMN is only a dream away.

Following your Australian waiting for delivery thread, realize you’re picky but also funny as shit & heavy on tongue in cheek. I just don’t think there is any car out there w/out it’s quirks. This one has so many upsides for me, I tend to forget all the dumb stuff. So stop bringing up things I’ve mentally mind blocked out & forgotten about ?

If the M2 has these things, synced climate control, nicer interior, trunk release button, a real oil dipstick, etc. then I get it... But it still cost more and weighs more. And I’m getting more settled in. Appreciating how I don’t have to change anything. Just drive and enjoy at this point. I think you’ll get there mate ?‍♂

Yeah.. I'm just conversing, lol. None of this really matters and it's interesting to see how bent out of shape people get over opinions that aren't theirs. ?

Just to refocus on the M2: I think it's an obviously better car - all things considered. The exterior is a little boring and ugly (but it's growing on me) and the colour palette isn't offering any help, but it does have a finished (but somewhat polarizing) interior.. and it is a proper M car, after all.

Exterior aesthetics aside, the real sticking point - particularly when compared to the Supra - is the price.

No one can seriously prefer the looks of the M2 right??? That's a boat... and I LOVED the previous M2C.

Nothing makes a Supra look better than putting it next to a modern BMW that costs 15k more. ?

I still don't like the front very much, but the rest of the car has been steadily growing on me. I like the clean lines of the profile a lot. Of course it does look like a Scion TC from some angles. Which dampens the luster a bit ?

I think the Supra has a couple questionable angles, but I struggle to find even a couple good ones on the M2.... It'd only work in black for me.

I foresee the M2 receiving some type of "refresh" in a year or 2 due to the looks. That, or the M2C is gonna try and fix some of the glaring design flaws. Otherwise the platform itself is an amazing package......minus the weight

Either buy a G87 M2 now or wait and save for the CS in 2 years.
The wife would have pushed me harder in this direction if the 2023 was available when we bought our 2022 Supra. Decent price (entry point) if we were to get one bone ? stock from the factory and wait. So I‘m feeling pretty fortunate to be in my lighter weight Supra w/ more abundant (cheaper) consumables (track parts).

I will agree with the cheaper parts and more after market support. I just left my shop, Speed Logic in Orange County, California and they work on a lot of MKVs and that's what they said. Cheaper to build the lighter Supra to 500-600HP than it is to build the G87 with the famous "M Tax" on all after market parts. Don't get me wrong, the G87 is an excellent choice and the S58 is a beast, but anyone getting it should be prepared to get taxed so hard on aftermarket parts like exhaust, intake, down pipe, etc.

M2 vs modded M240i.

I am starting to come around on the M2.

Still think it’s ugly as sin, but you can’t see it when you’re sitting in it and driving it… so yeah I’d consider one I guess.

M240i is such a better looking car.
