The MKIV had usable backseats? I guess you can say all cars had usable backseats, just depends on your definition of usable is.
The RX7 had usable backseats for putting small potted plants, small dogs, a couple of bags of groceries, pile of clothes/trash or my favorite, a cooler with some nice cold beverages (cooler had to be those tiny ones of course). ;)
As usable as 911 back seats. ? I wouldnā€™t be taking a road-trip in the backseat of a MKIV, but for a run to a restaurant a couple miles away, why not. MKIV probably had more backseat headroom than a 300ZX 2+2.

It's simple, if they get a piece of every Supra sold, they'll allow anything. Money is money.
I wasn't thinking about the business side of things. I was more so wondering about any tidbits like a confirmation on their side, important dates to watch out for, production rates, will it come on both the 2.0 and 3.0 and so on.

Pay for blind spot??? What are you talking about. Not Toyotas fault they are stuck with idrive 6 and not idrive 7 which is android auto compatible. Seriously buffetting is such a non issue with the car.

What did nissan do better? Nothing really use an old engine and old chassis and rewrapped it.
I actually prefer iDrive 6. I loved it when I had a BMW 318d Estate.

Of interesting note, Jason Cammisa feels that the M2 CS is the real successor to the MKIV - power, usable backseat, and manual transmission. Unfortunately, that's 2x the price of a MKV.
Cammisa talked out of his ass like no other in that video. The M2 CS' S55 is ass compared to the B58. Period. That's not a proper successor to the A80. Sorry.

IMO, Yaris and Corolla are existing platforms, and it wouldn't take as much money, effort, and resource to polish those platforms into a sportier driving experience, over an entirely new platform. Yaris hatchback is also a Mazda 2, BTW.
This. SO MUCH THIS.

There are some that I encounter out there that don't understand that other than what you mentioned, the GR Yaris and the GR Super Sport hypercar have multi-million dollar racing programs that were behind it. And on top of that, in the case of the GR Yaris, the platform it sits on has a lot of commonalities with other Toyotas, despite the GR Yaris being a literal race car.

Toyota had nothing good for the GR Supra and dudes should stop bitching about it being on a BMW platform. Because if you wanted GR Supra on the RC (you're a masochist), or on the LC (you like them big eh?), then the end product would be nowhere near as desirable as the current one because it would be so fucking expensive. Developing an inline-six that would go for just ONE car is stupid, and Toyota had more involvement in the GR Supra project than onlookers think. The G16E-GTS was already planned to go in the Corolla and I also heard the C-HR too. That's called amortizing costs. What the hell would you want to amortize development costs from an all-Toyota GR Supra project, especially when you have bean counters still not convinced that Toyota building more sporty and more emotional cars are a risky move? Hmmmm... nothing.

Toyota has been insanely transparent about their developments and to still hear people say this tired line that "Toyota could build so and so but couldn't build a pRoPEr sUPrA" is downright appalling at this point.

By the way, this rant isn't against anyone here. But I had to add on to @Michael-Dallas' point.

I'll never get over the Toyota Inline 6 take, BMW WAS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT THEM TO DO?

useable backseat in the A80 if you have no legs - i'm not tall (6'0") and there is 0,5" of room between the back of my recaro SR2 and the front of the rear seat

They were only projecting a 30% take rate for the manual. I think sales is at the bottom of their priority list. Let's face it, the only really reason why Toyota brought this project back from the dead was to save face with the new upcoming Z. Agree, the sooner the better imo. Might get a few people to cancel their Z reservation/deposit.

From the start I was one of those few.
So was I. I bought the premium with everything, but wanted a base model 3.0 so I could do wheels and brakes myself, but alas.

I think you're talking about @Heywood220. Sadly he hasn't logged in for quite sometime now. :(
Have still been coming around, just didn't realize that I wasn't signed in until I was called out on it.

I'd say A70TTR is on to something and probably knows more than what has been spoken about since he said he heard it was with the 3L.

Just throwing this out there, but the S58 is also a 3L... ?

but that wind buffeting is seriously ridiculous... How Toyota didn't catch it, then admitted it's there, to not give a crap to fix it is beyond me. Something so simple and cheap to fix apparently.
It's not just the Supra. I've experienced the same problem on my parent's 99 Camry and 04 Highlander, as well as my uncle's '18 Camry. It seems to pop up in other models as well. Toyota has never really solved this issue well across the range, from what it seems like.

Adding onto this, it's funny how TheDrive ran with that anonymous source but how that we have pics and vid not a peep from the auto media.
Probably because the former is just hearsay whereas the latter is a bit more concrete. If the media did report it on I bet Toyota would request them to take it down asap like with the leaked roadmap story. If they don't comply they could be faced with being black listed on future events, inside scoops, behind the scene look, early copies of press release/photos etc.

On a different note, I'm actually a bit more suprised that @ynguldyn hasn't responded to this latest claims of a manual for the 2023 model year.
