Needed.. no. Helpful on all cars? Yes. If I bought another supra for a daily type application, I'd slap a manifold on it first before anything else.
Why would you need that for a daily application?

I mean, it's an intake manifold and an intercooler. If you think about it that way I guess it justifies the $4k.

It's still a lot of money. On par with a good set of coilovers.

Yes they are sooooo over priced I really don't get it.
You have to design and engineer the manifold, that's not free, but even if it was.

* The intercooler core itself is premium
* The fittings
* Hoses
* Replacement Gaskets
* Spacer
* Misc bolts and screws
* Fuel rail
* Billet to make the housing
* Machining all of that

There's a lot of bits to it, even ignoring R&D.

I guess I'm somewhat surprised. Obviously this isn't an MKIV/2J and I didn't walk into this car expecting that to be the case with chasing power.

I did figure with it being 382~ rated at the crank that puts out roughly 388~ at the wheels for a 2021+ car, that it would be easier to reach 500whp than it actually is.
All the right answers have been posted.

Besides that, what 500hp 2JZ path is easier than what’s been presented here?

93 Oct., tune only, no mods, not the final numbers...

How are you making those numbers when literally everyone is saying it would require mods and meth or ethanol to get there? I'm not calling bs or anything, I'm genuinely intrigued.

Every time someone asks for 93 only advice, everyone jumps on the methanol bandwagon. What about just 93? Some people literally have no interest in running anything but.. which is incidentally what the OP asked. :rolleyes:

Just throwing this out there. I have a 2020 tuned with an ECUTEK on a dyno tune and it's making 420HP/500ft*lbs at the wheels with literally zero mods.

Just adding a flex fuel kit and an E50 tune will likely get you to right about 500, maybe just under.

My next power mods way down the road are an upgraded intake manifold, GESI catted downpipe, and a turbo upgrade. I'm going to be using this on track for HPDE/Time Attack. This will get me well into the 500-550 WHP range. I'm not interested in ethanol because it's simply not available to me. I'm also not interested in methanol because babysitting a tank is a PITA and it's not something I want to deal with on a track day.

Exhaust, charge pipe, intake, blah, blah, blah is optional.

I make alittle more hp and around the same tq on 93 gas ⛽ with Ecutek custom tune, intake, and charge pipe. That’s it. You can make 500whp with custom tune alone on a 102 octane pump gas. No need for E or a downpipe. But a downpipe will make it alittle more easier for a less aggressive tune. Most people on here just listen and follow whatever everybody else does. A factory exhaust and downpipe surprisingly flows pretty well…….

This ☝ My coilovers are worth every penny. If/when I decide to track in the summer heat, EOS manifold will be the way.

Mike Botti. He knows his stuff.
also mikey botti tuned here. i asked for a conservative map for daily driving.
catted DP and intake
dyno 411/500
obviously could make more but not my goal for this map

So- yes. an excellent tune on a slightly juiced dyno will make 500hp on stock everything (just DP) for whatever reason, I was assuming locked ECU- and given the questioned assumed no unlock.
