Depends where in the world you are. In the US yes, elsewhere, no.
Oh snap. Weird, I didn’t know that. I have literally no idea how to even check the exact nomenclature of my specific car. The VIN gives me everything under the sun - 3.0 base, 3.0 premium, 3.0 S.E.

Haven’t read all 13 pages. But responding to the original question: I wouldn’t go to the new M2 from my Supra 3.0. The new M2 is 3,850 lbs, tall, and not that good looking (but it isn’t the worst IMO). Plus, I don’t think it’ll perform much better than a Supra, and probably worse in grip, braking, and handling feel. If I were to “upgrade” to a BMW it would have to be a RWD M4 Comp. More powerful and 125 lbs lighter than even the M2. Weird.

Do you think that maybe the only way that the Supra gets an update is if the BMW Z4 gets some upgrades? What are the chances that the Z4 gets a big update, maybe an updated interior/tech, but likely not much else. Now if they could come out with a M version of the Z (as they have in the early/mid 00’s) then maybe there would be a chance for a special performance version of the Supra.
Probably not - the Z4 interior and electronics are already different than the Supra, so any upgrades there don't necessarily translate directly to the Supra. Z4 is already on iDrive7 (vs the ancient iDrive6 the Supra uses for its head unit). The Z4 also has terrible sales numbers, so I wouldn't be surprised if BMW wants to just leave it alone until the production run ends.

That said, I really love the Thundernight Metallic (purple) paint color it has available...

Between the trunk and personal belongings I had 9lbs of crap in the car. I'm not counting the jack set in the trunk space as I will leave it be.

I will wait until someone like Car and Driver or Motortrend fully test this new M2 and with that a proper weight measurement. Until then, I will just believe what BMW has stated.

Welp.....it's not as heavy as I thought with an MT
But still.... 3750 is a lot of weight to carry around
Full weight loaded non CF pack AT G87 will probably cross the 3900 lbs mark

Get the Supra if you track or do backroads sporty driving or go for looks.

Get the M2 if you do mostly freeway driving or need the interior space and don’t want to do performance mods

The new M2 is over 300 pounds heavier than the Supra and this weight will show up in any sorts of performance driving regardless of how much power it has. If both owners (one with Supra & one with M2) mod their car to 500, 600 or 700hp, the Supra will always come out ahead (corners, straight or braking) because of the substantially lesser weight.

Not feeling it… just too boxy on all four corners… revised bumpers would aid.

Pictured wheels don’t help it either.

Lol. Was just texting Ding
I hope I'm not doing harm by putting Jackie on a pedestal, but I think his video blogs will answer almost all of this thread's questions regarding track performance comparisons to the Supra.

The interior is mint.. but until BMW offer some decent external colours.. and perhaps a mild mid-life facelift, it's just not good enough, really.
