If you could will you do it all over again?

I think I would have gone for a ZL1 instead of my Supra if I had to do it over again. In Canada, the Supra starts @ $69k for the 3.0P while the ZL1 is $76K (at the time I ordered the Supra, the Camaro is now $81k base with no options except the 10-speed). I knew tuning the Supra wouldn't be possible right away, but I figured someone in NA would have figured that out by now, and yet, here we are.

That said, the Supra is definitely more rare than the Camaro, but I do enjoy me some V8 noises. Tough decision, but I'm glad I don't actually have to make it.

I've had quite a few fun cars before my supra, actually sold my 17 roush mustang with 700rwhp for the supra. I really like the supra but to be honest you really can't judge this car until you unlock it and get a tune, because my God it wakes this thing up big time.

Its road presence, its drive, motor and instant torque on command makes it unbeatable for what you're getting. When tuned, another great story.

So, yes.

What would you have done differently if you don't mind me asking?
Nothing crazy different. I would have done the stud conversion much sooner, I wouldn't have wasted time with the H&R springs and would have just gone straight to either the HKS adjustable springs I have now or full coilovers, I would have done all of the suspension at once instead of having to pull everything off and on over and over again with 3 separate alignments, etc.

How would you save money? I have had my manual blue Supra for 4 days now. Although it is most likely not my forever car, it is a lot of fun, even though it is not yet broken in yet.
Would have gone straight for JRZ or MCS suspension. Right now I'm running JRZ RS Pro 3, I got here after trying H&R Springs and KW Clubsport 2-way. Also would have gone straight for a square 18" setup from the start for track work. It's nice being able to rotate tires and having more tire options.

I quite like the car, but if I I could do it again, Iā€™d 100% keep my FRS in addition to the Supra. I had no idea that an objectively better vehicle in every way, could be so comparatively numb. Great lesson learned, however.
I still have my LS3 FRS and other than the soft rear end bushings in the FRS I agree on all points. Itā€™s certainly a less cushy car than the Supra but Iā€™d argue more playful (which can be viewed as more ā€œfunā€ to drive)

I feel like I have a pretty bias opinion about cars and have owned a lot of really high end cars in that 50-100 price range.
03 - IS300
08 - STI
15 - M4
18 - GT350 (exploded, ford buyback)
18 - M3 Individual (Couldn't stand exhaust note... s55 tt sounds like balls)
95 - Supra MKIV 3.4 stroker 6870 and t56.. forever..
17 - GT350 (still have, dads buying it)
13 - FRS K24 Swap (fast but meh)
02 - Supercharged Stroker S2000 (really good car, still have it)

And now I have
23 - Supra P-MT and its the BMW I've always wanted but they couldn't figure out.. the B58 has the right sound.

I've got a pile of parts coming for my car, the worst things about it are user choice.. (suspension, shifter bushings.. exhaust.. turbo sounds)
Damn thatā€™s a good list. Iā€™m curious if you can elaborate on how it stacks up? I agree on BMW Iā€™ve always wantedā€¦ my 335 didnā€™t cut it and youā€™re absolutely right on the S55ā€¦ what made me avoid the M4 (love the look)ā€¦ I donā€™t like the F series cars tho.

For me, Iā€™ve only had the car a month but driven it like 1300 miles haha. Mine was purchased pretty highly modified (big turbo, built trans, PI and flex fuel) so I canā€™t relate to the stock vs tuned comments, but itā€™s definitely a great car. Not a forever car for me, but Iā€™d argue the ā€œnicestā€ car Iā€™ve had to date. I donā€™t intend on tracking it, and maybe thatā€™s where Iā€™ll miss how great it can be, but yes, Iā€™d buy it again.

Wanted to mention that the goal for this car had been track oriented from the start.

1.5 years in, Yes.

Not to say there aren't issues with it uniquely to this car though. One mainly being Toyota service departments requiring "special" techs or whatever is a bit annoying but I understand why. I just wish they'd train more qualified people in my area.

Second is what someone else already mentioned, the stock suspension feels a bit number than I'm used to. It's hard for me to sense where the car rotates and when the rear might kick out. But I chalk this up to inexperience with this car. I've driven various performance cars throughout the years and I can't quite get a good feel on this one.

Anybody have suggestions on how to improve this without going too crazy with changing bushings or whatever? Springs? Coilovers? Particular alignment? Sorry not to de-rail this thread. Almost thinking out loud.

Well said. It hard to regret a Supra once you get behind the wheel, and after that it just grows on you even more.

Yep. Original owner of a '20. I don't have many miles on it but I have enjoyed it the whole time. A nice balance of refinement and excitement, especially after some basic mods.

Definitely... my only regret really is that I didn't wait another 2 months when I purchased mine in January... right before the pandemic. Could have saved at least $5K by just waiting 6-8 weeks or so... but my psychic ability failed me miserably.

100% yes. I've put 55k miles on mine so far (daily driver) and it has been extremely reliable in all aspects. Fun to drive when I want it to be, can be a normal commuter when needed and just looks so good compared to regular traffic.
