I'm assuming you guys are reusing your brake caliper/bracket bolts? I finished my swap to premium rear brakes yesterday and torqued them back down only to realize after they were marked as TTY fasteners.

Since it's only for rears I'm not worried, but thought I'd ask as well.

I reused them once but bought a set to replace them the 2nd time.

The caliper ones are lower torque compared to the bracket bolts so you can probably get away with using them longer but I wouldn't risk it too much with brake hardware.

Seems like a good candidate for buying quality bolts from McMaster or similar and never having to worry about them again.

Yeah I saw Razorlab turning 57s in the video he posted the other day, but he has quite a bit more go-fast parts than I do.

Guess we'll find out in a couple days 😅
I did a 59.72 in 2022 with stock 2020 power, MCS 2WNR, no aero, 275 CRS V1 square.

However, that was my first year tracking at LRP and first year tracking a RWD car so probably could have gone faster at that level of mods if I didn't then mod more over that winter. I'm pretty sure I could do a 58 easily now with that same level of mods.

My current best is a 56.65 but the car easily has another second or two in it but Corvettes like being speed bumps and more importantly, I am a wuss in some parts of the track like uphill and downhill.

Yeah I re-used mine, but I change them out after I’ve torqued them a couple times. This particular set was relatively new.

What are people doing for PPE and safety specifically for HPDE?

As I continue to track, my 8/10ths are my old 10/10ths. I’ve added more power mods, stickier tires, and increased my tolerance to risk. My top speeds can be anywhere between 140-160mph. I’ve added a class B/C fire extinguisher after seeing a car on track light up, but I’ve been debating about going full race suit + accessories and Hybrid S. I am still using OEM 3pt belts, currently not looking into a roll bar setup beyond the factory equipment for my z4.

I’m just curious if this kind of PPE is appropriate for this setting at this point.

Safety at any level is always appropriate. If you're keeping 3 points then go Hybrid S. I bought my HANS the day after that kid died at Road Atlanta in a DE session about 10ish years ago.

Full race suit and such is up to you. My rule of thumb is if you've modified the fuel system than a fire suit is a good idea.

Given that you are driving a convertible, and have some concerns, or at least enough that you are considering other safety gear, I'd be considering a roll cage. I drove my old Miata retractable hardtop on track days with out a roll cage because the SCCA let me. But I never pushed the car or myself at all like I did when I was racing wheel to wheel in cars with all the proper equipment.

roll cage is better, but fwiw BMW verts have pop up roll over protection that is pretty amazing.
and consequently, they are one of the few convertibles approved to run w 90% or orgs.

I've been in a few car fires over the years, so I generally wear a fire suit even during HPDE. That plus a hybrid S is my usual attire. Of the last 5 cars I tracked only 1 had a real harness/harness bar and the rest had 3 point belts. The hybrid S works with any of them and was a pretty easy call vs my older Necksgen HANS I had. I do use a CGLock on the stock 3 point to help hold me in place better, but I don't count that as safety equipment.

Cages/roll bars are nice, but unless the car is a dedicated track setup I don't recommend them. A fire suit and hybrid S I do recommend. It's like riding a motorcycle and the phrase ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time). Once in a great while I'll go out without the suit on and now I feel naked without it.

Ended the weekend at Lime Rock with a 1:00.372. I was hoping to get a 59.xx and I had an optimal 59.7x but couldn’t link it all together in one lap. Given that I hadn’t been here before and my A052s had >10 heat cycles I’m not disappointed. Super fun track. It feels like driving a car on a big go kart course. Pretty high risk track though, a couple of my friends found the walls this weekend.

Was following via the livestream. Nice work for your first time there. Lime Rock might seem simple but it takes finding its secrets to really go fast there. Also yes, you need to respect it too as it can bite for sure!

Also yes, it takes stringing everything together. One small mistake can ruin the whole lap.
