I built a C8 Corvette that I would have been satisfied with which required the 2LT Equipment group (to be comparable with the Supra Premium) and the Z51 performance package (because why would you buy a sports car that comes with all season tires) and optioned in decent wheels. I came up with an MSRP of $73,790

Compared to a Supra premium with driver assistance $56,140 and between rebate and discount I saved $9,000 off MSRP. Corvettes are completely sold out for 2 years at MSRP from what I've seen.

I'll take the $26,650 savings and a car that I will enjoy driving at least as much. I'm buying the supra

I get asked sometimes why I did not even look at the C8 before my Supra purchase. I bought my Supra mostly as a decoration for my garage as she has beautiful artistic lines. C8 is too angular for my taste visually. I am sure they are superb track warriors. I never track my cars so my Premium does perfectly fine.

Some even ask why I did not wait until the 2021 with more power. People have way too many questions.

yea i saw that. i think everyone knows stock for stock the C8 is faster, there is no news there. But dollar for dollar i think the Supra will make more power. Of course everyone know displacement is still a thing. So when forced induction comes with proper tuning for a C8 we will see. I havent found any in my area.

But looking forward to racing a turbo C8 with my car when they are ready.

It will be interesting to see how the C8 goes once proper tuning is available for it, if it is...

A tuned Supra will give a C8 a hard time for sure & will still be cheaper than a C8

one of my business partners has a C8 on order, so we will be putting them both thru its paces and building products for it as well as tuning of course.

Very nice

My understanding the C8 is tuned differently & isn't available to have the tune/ECU modified like the Supra ?

All new cars, like the Supra even, have the ECU's locked from the factory. The new C8 is the same, although their encryption or whatever on it is supposed to be impossible to break. But they say that about every new performance car, so it will just be a matter of time, there are too many smart people out there.

In addition to the above, I believe that GM has relationships with some of the larger Chevy/Corvette tuning shops, so I'm sure they will provide an unlock to them. Otherwise we wouldn't have already seen turbos getting slapped on.

Software is software, and security is always an arms race. I'm biased towards my Supra, but I am interested to see how far Chevy can punch up into the European dominated mid-engine market.

Has it been confirmed the C8 2.9 sec zero/60 spec Is the $60k base model?

GM historically over promises and under delivers.

No because GM never made that claim.

They claimed 3.0s 0-60 w/o Z51 and 2.9s with. Both of which have confirmed depending on testing conditions.
