It seems like this thread is getting a little old. I thought I would throw my opinion in. The torque curve between the two engines seems to deviate pretty substantially from 5000 rpm to 6500. I don't usually drive in this range so it probably would not make any difference to me from a performance standpoint. When I was driving today with the throttle about 1/2 to 3/4 way down in sport mode it gave me a pretty spirited ride. I noticed it tended to shift right at 5000 rpm. When I go wide open throttle at higher speeds I can definitely feel the drop in torque over 5000 rpm. If I'm to believe the torque curves published by Car and Driver (the 2020 curve seems pretty accurate by my seat of the pants observation) the 2021 still drops over 5000 rpm but holds a pretty big margin over the 2020. If I had the choice between the two I would probably get the 2021. There would be no reason for me to switch from by 2020 since in my real-world experience there would really be no difference.

I superimposed the two curves.

Car and Driver's graphs have different x axis ranges for the 2020 vs. 2021, and it looks like you didn't correct for that in your overlay. I noticed because I made the same mistake on my first attempt to merge the two graphs. After correcting, here's what I got (posted earlier upthread):

The improvement in horsepower shows up before 5,000 rpm, but, yeah, it's not huge until you get up near that range.

Which is a good thing. Means there's no additional turbo lag "some" car reviewers said there would be because of the lower compression. So it drives the same as the '20 it just pulls slightly harder.

Technically there is a slight lag added, but it only added ~100-200 rpm....and when you are hitting full boost at 2500 rpm it still is gonna feel like zero lag. Very worth it for the improved top end.

“a lot” harder from that run on you-tube. The 2021 walked it. Lol

thx for posting!

"In this video, we put upgraded 2020 and 2021 GR Supras head-to-head! Both are equipped with our Stage-3 package, both calibrated by Vlad via EcuTek, both tested on the same dyno, and both completed just days apart with similar conditions. It's the ultimate 2-port versus 6-port engine comparison!"
