A stiffer chassis than an LFA means it might have some beefy subframes....not heavier.I wonder how the subframe will handle all that torque
But to put things into perspective, it seems the top tier is 400+hp
http://club4ag.com/chief-engineer-t...gh-a-viewpoint-of-joint-development-with-bmw/Very interesting to see WHICH manual might be used, but ultimately interested to see IF a manual might be used. I know everyone sees this differently, but to ME, automatics are for race cars and minivans (or basic transportation cars). I always hear the argument that the automatic is faster...to extend that argument, I could be faster yet if I hired Lewis Hamilton to drive my car, but that (like the automatic transmission, leaves me out of the process).
The other thing that concerns me about this car is BMW's involvement. BMW has a history of beta testing stuff on the consumer, and I can only hope that Toyota's involvement will temper that. I will let the folks that need to be first in line figure that part out. In any case, if a manual is forthcoming, it won't be soon...and I have zero interest in an enthusiast car with an automatic.
These transmissions are not the best shifting transmissions but they are very strong. It's quite popular in Europe drift scene to bolt 2JZ/LS engines to the diesel ZF manual trans. I have a turbo 325i E30 and i bolted the GS6 to it and it's even on stock clutch at around 500whp. The N54 guys have many problems with their cars but manual transmission failing isn't one of them.
I am sure a leak will be up in the near future....

I can see the "refinement" going into the ZF8 SuprasYep...
Now remember, Tada did say that one of the biggest factors was transmission feel. I am sure there will be some sacrificing of "refinement" for strength and durability. I mean, that's exactly the case with the V160 right?...notchy and noisy, but strong asf!
Exactly! If someone wants a smooth shifting (still fast) MKV Supra, the ZF HP8 will more than handle the job.I can see the "refinement" going into the ZF8 Supras
It'd make for a great DD tooExactly! If someone wants a smooth shifting (still fast) MKV Supra, the ZF HP8 will more than handle the job.
Yes, the trans and diff were from the AltezzaWasn't the manual transmission from the FRS/86/GT86/BRZ a Toyota transmission? I know for a fact the automatic was a Toyota transmission. I just find it funny that the automatic was before used in big, luxurious cars in the mid 2000's and then slapped that same transmission in a 2012 car.
