Hi all, currently own a 6MT F87 M2 Comp but have the Supra itch, so may make the switch soon. How does the 6MT in the Supra compare to the F/G series M cars? I really have not enjoyed the manual in mine, after adding a SSK, CDV delete and upgraded bushings and trans mounts, the shifting experience is improved but the rev hang still mutes it for me. I realize this can.m be improved with tuning, but just wanted to see if the Supra 6MT suffers from the same drawbacks, thanks!

A lot of it is in the tuning, flywheel weight and reportedly the rev-match option if you use it.

personally haven’t tuned my MT, but there was a slight difference in rev hang when I had a new clutch and lighter flywheel installed, but it wasn’t major. I’ve also done the CDV delete and bushing replacement.

not sure what kind of feedback you’re looking for though — the shifting experience for me is satisfying on the car.

Haven't done a CDV delete yet, and haven't drove a BMW manual.

1st to 2nd gear, I can not stand.

Been driving manuals for year and I question my ability sometimes in this car lol.

It's probably the best BMW manual I've ever felt, but it is still very decidedly a BMW feeling manual if that makes sense?

I haven't done the CDV Delete yet, so the 1-2 shift is fairly clunky. I'm planning on doing the CDV Delete at the end of this month along with an Autosolutions Short shifter and front/rear carrier bushings which from what I've read, transforms the shifting experience a fair but but I guess we'll see once it's done.

I have 28,000 miles on mine ranging from stock to 750whp. In stock form it's slightly better than BMW manuals, when you modify it... same shit

That being said it's still not honda or porsche good, or even close. I would even say STI trans feels better too.

But it's enjoyable forsure

I drove a colleague’s MT G87.

Stock for stock, the Supra’s had much less vagueness and rubbery feeling.

So Toyota did do something with it.

That said, I have an AutoSolutions SSK which really tightened everything. It’s not as slick as a Honda box, but it has improved.

I’m looking to do the Rogue rear carrier and shifter bushing kit to see if it improves anything.

Do CDV Delete with a clutch stop, makes it decent imo. As other's have said it's not exponential but it's good feeling enough for a BMW.

Curious to see if it solves the problem for you as the CDV delete pretty much nothing for me. The only thing that improves it slightly is turning rev matching off.

CDV delete fixes the 1 to 2
Not for me, it didn't.

We'll see. Best case scenario it makes some sort of improvement, worst case scenario it makes no improvement but it's at least not putting a bit of extra wear on the clutch.

I'm sure the bushings/shifter are gonna make the bigger improvements but I figured while I'm in there, may as well delete the CDV

CDV removal along with the Rogue engineering clutch pedal solved all my complaints w/ my Z4. I've been driving stick for like ugh nearly 40 years non-stop and could not get used to the Z4. Those 2 changes together did it. CDV delete for the action / feel of the pedal and actually shifting / slipping, and the pedal for the feeling it was all located way too high up and took a long throw.

No CDV delete, no 1 -2 issue..the 6MT on the Supra feels better than the one on the M2C

I came from a 6MT F87 comp and now into a 6MT A90.

The transmissions feel very similar. Stock for stock, the A90 shifter feels slightly better but nothing spectacular.

I have the Rogue Engineering Short Shifter, with rear carrier bushing, weighted shift knob and CDV delete. It's a completely different feeling than stock. Even just the weighted knob made a big difference.

Definitely got rid of that BMW rubbery/loose feeling.
