Since when are B58s a motor that "pops?" That's the reason I used to be an SR20 guy, and now moved to the B58. Both are extremely durable engines known to almost never blow up on their own accord.
Sounds like you had a lot more success with Sr's than me. I popped 3 in 5 years, and even compensated for the oiling issues by putting an extra quart of oil in. Baffled pan and all. After the third, I went LS and did not look back.

former SR guy myself.
Nothing like a spun bearing on an SR20. Went through 2 that way.

Only thing I had happen was a rocker arm dislodge at like 7500 RPM, but that was as simple as putting it back into place and getting a set of spring-loaded stoppers to prevent it from happening again. I got really lucky on that one. I knew a couple guys that spun a rod bearing, but it never hurt the motor enough to warrant any service besides a new set of bearings.

Well the first was the og non turbo sr, so when that took a shit I swapped to a turbo motor. Then I had the bearing issue with that motor and did a bearing swap and was good for awhile. Then it happened again, so I said fuck it and bought another long block.
Car was always fun but I grew out of the headaches of having a highly modded car.

Send it clean in a tow truck for warranty inspection and received it like this after more than a week exposed to the elements and dented…
Dealership would be paying to fix that dent no questions about it. Call corporate toyota and demand to speak to a district manager .. sorry this happened

Has anyone else besides the 2 threads on this forum, experienced further clutch failure issues?
I am hoping these were just some anomalies.

"I was scared it was going to be something like the slave had failed"

I think in almost any car I've worked on, I would have preferred a slave cylinder to have failed than for a clutch disc.

As soon as they mentioned drifting, though, I felt the root of the issue had been discovered.

Unfortunate thing is this video is probably going to give people a skewed viewpoint that the stock clutch may be inherently defective. I highly doubt anyone driving that car didn't significantly abuse that clutch for it to shred itself like that.
