Anyone install a Clutch-Stop for their MT?

I’ve also been interested in a clutch stop since the pedal travel is so long it makes me adjust my seat further up than I would normally. I think it’s a totally different situation as CDV that looks to improve shift quality vs pedal throw.

Right, they are 2 separate items. I guess what i was more looking for, was the ability to shift from 1st to 2nd faster.
I figured the CDV delete would improve the 1-2 speed by reducing the time the clutch slipped.
And adding the clutch stop would reduce overall shifting time in general.

My car had a pull -type clutch so was opposite. Falling to fully disengage would be even worse, as you would kill synchros instead of just a clutch.

Exactly, I thought I would be able to notice the synchros grinding, within the first 10 or so shifts if the clutch stop was too high up.
I am still quite conflicted about it. The BMW guys i spoke to all say a clutch stop is fine, and many of them have it. On the other hand, my JDM guys all are against one.
I'll just drive with the CDV delete for now, and see how that improves overall shifting speed and experience.

They were developed for my old car because anytime we would let off the clutch too fast, the throw out bearing would release from the clutch you'd have to pull the transmission to fix it.
A stop limits movements, so I'm trying to figure out how it would help with shifting.

CDV delete would be my first suggestion as other have mentioned. Secondly I would consider an aftermarket knob to help smooth out your shifts. I went with the Racesng Nitro which is a hair over 300g and helped make the 1->2 and the 2->3 shifts much smoother. I have yet to do the CDV delete though but every time I heel and toe the car is begging me to get rid of it.

FWIW, I went ahead and installed the clutch-stop, after the CDV delete.
Ive got about 1200 miles or so using the Clutch-stop, and I can confidently say it has dramatically increased my ability to shift faster. There is still a good bit of travel after the bite-point, so I am able to fully disengage the clutch. I haven't maxed out the clutch stop either (there is about 25% or so before i max out).

The CDV delete got rid of the weirdness between shifts, and allowed for a more predictable experience.

Overall, I love this setup. The car is much more predictable and shifting is faster, is easier than ever.

That's not usually how a clutch stop works, so still trying to figure out how it helps. I realize these cars have some whacky, German engineering, so maybe there is something I'm missing.
It shouldn't have any effect on your clutch pedal, nor how fast you can shift.
Getting rid of the CDV is what helps you shift faster.

I might not be explaining it correct. I guess it doesn't improve shift time directly.
It reduces the travel time at the clutch pedal, which overall reduces time take to complete a full shift.

I guess if the clutch still works correctly, then I can kinda see how it would speed things up. I've never pushed a clutch pedal more than needed to disengage before.. definitely not to the floor. So this is a clutch PEDAL stop. When most of us hear "clutch stop" we think of a part that usually goes on the trans somewhere that limits the movement of the TOB in some way. Long story... not important. LOL. Anyway, now I see what you mean.
But isn't it just easier to not push the pedal until it hits something?

Needed it since the new clutch kit raised the bite point so much.

Might try it with the Supra. It is true that it makes shifting faster if you usually fully depress the pedal like me.

Yess! I think a Clutch Pedal Stop is probably the right term for it.

But isn't it just easier to not push the pedal until it hits something?

It a little tricky with the Supra. The bite point is already pretty low, so imo it's safer to go nearly all the way, rather then risking grinding something like the transmission synchros. Also prevents me from overthinking every darn shift

It honestly makes a pretty insane difference in the shifting speed for sure. Definitely give it a shot.
I bought mine from the ebay link and it has served me well so far.

meh.. practice makes perfect OP. Just learn the car with what you have before adding all sorts of unnecessary bits you don't really need.

Most novice mistakes are from not enough throttle applied between shifts.. you have to keep the flywheel momentum neutrally spinning during gear changes both up and down shifts. That takes very small throttle inputs from your right foot (unless you're seated facing backwards for some reason )

Bump has anyone else put one in, I've got one in my MK8 Golf R and do like it. As the OP said it limits how much past the full disengagement point the pedal travels. Assuming it just goes here:

Wondering how the clutch pedal stop is working out for you? How many miles do you have on it now? Do you just pull the old one out and push the new one in? How do you adjust it?

Considering getting one as well, since the clutch pedal has one of the longest travels in any manual car I've owned.

I've been thinking about getting one of these too. Most of my old cars engaged off the floor with almost no dead zone, so I found the extra 3-4 of pedal travel annoying at first. But since i got rid of all of my other cars, leaving just the Supra, I've gotten used to it.
