I have went back and reread this guide numerous of times throughout the years, so thank you for creating this. I am now approaching completely unknown territories when it comes to my build now that I want to push more power by doing my first turbo upgrade.

The 2-port Pure900 finally releases in a few days and I wanted to prepare for it. I'm just going to put it out there first, as of right now, I have no plans on upgrading my transmission. That being said I know that the Pure650 and Pure800 are more ideal for me but they are currently not available yet.

I have been doing a deep dive on what port injection is, and the consensus is to skip the port injection plate and just get a manifold instead. Wagner Tuning and do88 seems to be the inexpensive popular options I've seen recommended. I might lean towards the do88 purely because I think the "WT" logo on the Wagner takes away from the engine bay aesthetically. The only thing I can't figure out is what injectors I should get? I see a lot of people getting the 1050s but they're also pushing well over 900 hp. My goal is 5xx hp on 93 pump gas and 6xx hp on ethanol with my transmission torque locked at 550-600 like recommended.

Speaking of ethanol, I have yet to purchase a flex fuel kit, and I keep hearing about Motiv Reflex+ which makes your port injection functional? But then I saw this quote in the thread

Port injection (Pre June 2020): If your ECU is Pre June 2020 Port injection would be easier. As it is right now EcuTek and MHD+ both have reflex integration i.e you would not need an injector controller like MOTIV reflex.
^ Stupid question but what does this mean? Because I have a 2019 ecu Supra, I don't need to spend $1400 on the Motiv Reflex+ and the Plug n' Play Harness..? Then what do I buy? I am tuned on MHD+ (Sorry if this question feels very hand hold-y and I'm wanting to be fed answers I know a lot of people love saying that across threads)

I'm currently tuned with MHD on an OTS Stage 2 Tune, with an Armaspeed Intake, FTP Charge Pipe, and Kenji Garage's Catless Downpipe.

Q1. What Injectors should I get if I only want 6xx hp on ethanol or even 93 if possible?
Q2. If I do not need Motiv Reflex+ like the quote states, what do I need to buy besides a Flex Fuel Kit?
Q3. I am going to assume I'll have to replace my Armaspeed Intake due to potential fitment issues? Pure's website recommends the BMS Billet Intake
Q4. I shouldn't need to upgrade my LPFP at this stage correct?
Q5. Do I even need to go Port Injection? Or will the turbo lag be that bad for a Pure900?

Honestly you may want to save up and go top-mount.. I had two pure800's and both pushed oil. Maybe they've fixed the issue but worth looking into.
1. If you go Pure900 you'll want 1050 injectors and those will support around 900hp. I'm at 1,100hp and needed to jump up to 1300's.
2/4. I would recommend Visconti's LPFP kit along with the Motiv and Flex kit he offers as that will be fairly plug-and-play.
5. You will need to go port injection. The stock hpfp will only support around 500 wheel.

Thanks for the reply, I totally forgot to update that comment after doing a bit more research and contacting multiple shops which essentially answered most of the questions I asked.

I still ended up pre-ordering the New Pure900 2-port (RIP ship date is 3/27/2026). Every tuner and shop highly recommended going with ID 1050 Injectors, I originally ordered Bosch 750 and everyone told me to return them just because ID have more freedom and adjustability for your tuner. I ended up getting the whole Motiv Reflex and ethanol kit from Precision Raceworks during their Black Friday sale.
I went with the do88 manifold + fuel rail for my port injection just because the do88 has a more sleek design and you can still put the engine cover over it without cutting it or getting a pre-cut aftermarket one. Main reason for this was because I have a vented hood, and I was scared of exposing the elements to the PI wiring, especially when it rains or I wash the car. So being able to fully cover the PI harness felt important.

My local shop (who works with Mike Botti) recommended the Precision Raceworks Hybrid Fuel Pump (Stage 2/Universal) whereas when I contacted David Shoup, his team recommended the Precision Raceworks AFS Fuel Pump and said the Hybrid one was bad. So I'm still doing a bit of research there.

I suppose the only back and forth question I have is do I need an oil vent cap for the Pure900? Pure's product page recommended the Black Market Race catch-can, which I ordered but I didn't order the bundle with the oil vent cap because my shop said it wasn't needed because I wasn't going top mount and oil vent caps are mostly for top mounts since they produce much more pressure. Where as hybrid turbos like the Pure900 still uses it's original turbo location, so it's not required.

Nice. It sounds like you're on the right path. I've had 3 different LP fuel setups and ended up with Radiums which doesn't look all dissimilar to yours but make sure you opt for a high-flow pump. My kit came with a single 255 which would be fine for your application but if you ever upgrade you'll need something in the 480-520 range.
I had an oil vent cap with my pure setup but likely wasn't necessary.

I don't know much about flex kits, but i DO know the visconti one develops leaks over time and he refuses to revise the design
This can be mitigated by wrapping the fuel line with high temp harness tape. Almost 5 years on mine and no leaks to date.

But agree its the weak point in his kit.

Haven't had any issues with mine since 2023, but I should probably do that just to be safe. I've made sure the lines aren't in a position to rub against anything

If I upgrade my transmission (spool stage 2), do I need to turn off XHP during the break in period or am I ok running stage 2?

I was able to get about 800 miles out of the stock transmission after adding a pure 800 on e50. Dyno’d at 720whp 700wtq. It started to slip in 6th and not even during hard shifts. I would be cruising at like 2k and then give it some throttle to pass and it would make a loud roar at 4k rpm and drop back down to 2kish. Then this weekend I was on the street cruising in 2nd, the trans went into manual mode in 3rd and back to 2nd a few times with some lurching. I bought a spool stage 2 during the Black Friday sale and it’s definitely time to get it installed.

Yea that is toast. The best part is when you downshift into the braking zone and the clutches bind up and the engine revs to 8k.

I would set XHP to stage 0 during break in.

I think the original post should be updated given the recent changes in unlocks and advancements on the platform.

Hey guys, question, do custom tunes offer flex fuel capability like OTS tunes? What I mean by that is do custom tunes only make extra power when the ethanol content is at a certain point (like e50 for example) or will they make power relevant to the ethanol content (tuned for e50 max power, but will make power at e20/30/40 etc).

Yep, works exactly the same way if you have a flex fuel kit. As long as it's a flex map it will scale power on the custom tune whether it's ecutek, mhd, etc.
